85 250r left side case

I was riding at the badlands and the chain came of and broke a chunk out of my left side case right under my shifter? I can't get one new and I was wondering if anyone on here had one, or if it would hurt to try to weld it because I have the chunk that came out.

Lots of people weld them, I'd try to find someone who knows what he's doing and uses a TIG welder.....

aren't they still available from honda?? I got 2 sets of new 86/87 cases about 2 years ago. 85 cases are exactly the same, except for the color. 88/89 cases will work also. If you don't mind the color, later year cases will work, 88/89 cases are black, can't notice a difference. Esr has a bunch of new cases for a reasonable price. They only sell them as a pair online, but I bet if you call, they will sell just the left side.

yea no probs on finding a good one, liquid r parts are like gremlins, you pour water on them and they multiply, lol.
also a word of advice, buy a case saver. they are only like $25, and it will prevent this in the future.
