1983 200x. I'll get pics up in a little bit. I just got back from a 5 hour ride round trip to get it. Long story short, it's gonna need a lot of TLC but it runs. It smokes like a chimney, and the exhaust is all rusted, plastic cracked, etc. Here's where I need help, the front sprocket was old and rusted or whatever and broke off causing the chain to break off. I need a new sprocket however, the shaft that the front sprocket spins on is rusted and needs to be replaced. How difficult is this, and does it involve opening the tranny cases?

well,,, yep. you will be 10 knuckles deep into the tranny to replace that shaft.
are you sure the sproket wasn't jury rigged on the shaft ? i'll do up a pic of the componets if you need it,,, not sure if you have a book for your trike yet or not.
nice buy also ! congrats.

yeah, my buddy just got here, he's got 3 of em, 2 parts, 1 complete. Anyway the teeth on the shaft are totally gone. Rather than getting into the tranny, I think i'll replace the entire bottom end.

pics tomorrow. i'm going to buy a bottom end from coty, so i dont have to waste time splitting cases. I figure if i get a bottom end from him, hone it, put in a new piston and rings, i should be good to go...??
