Well, I finally committed and picked up a Tiger. Some here may recognize this trike. I would really like to say "Thank You" to erectordale for more than can be printed here. A person that without his help, this trike wouldn't be possible. He put the trike for sale up on ebay and not many bid. After winning the auction, he was instrumental in finding me a more than reasonable shipping solution. He also cut a deal with me for his extra 250 parts. Almost a whole second trike and still alot of extra parts. This trike needs alot of TLC, but it is far from being a pile and will be made to look a whole lot better and be a running Tiger again. It will not be an OC restoration by far, but it should be a really nice runner. Alot of original supplier parts are still available and some of the harder parts, the fenders, will be fiberglass that the molds were pulled from original parts. I hope to be sharing my progress on here and hope to show videos of this trike running and being ridden. This is the trike that I have been looking for. All there and can be made very respectable, but not so original that it can't be ridden. I had more pics, but they were blurry, so you will have to settle for these today. There will be several board members on here that I will certainly call on for their expertise and knowledge of where to obtain the bits and pieces that I need. I hope this will be a really fun build and a real trip to ride. The other frame and parts should be a real blast too. The odyssey begins now.

Congratulations, dude. I'm very jealous, to say the least. I can't imagine why anybody would part with one of those.

Thank you, but don't be jealous. I'm sure you'll get a chance to own one. Look how lucky I got. Just keep your eyes open.

The trike was shipped from Indiana and was $300, couldn't beat it. I don't know if the carrier that shipped my Tiger goes out west, but they might. It rode up front on one of those single level car carriers. I should have taken a picture it was pretty neat. And the carrier was kind enough to put the fenders and the extra tank in his tractor when he brought the trike. You can't beat that. But Dale who is very experienced in these things, packed all my extra parts and frame into 3 tubs, so they were very secure and water tight. Dale wrapped the engine up so it wouldn't be exposed to the elements since it was on an open trailer. I'm sure the Tiger had quite a ride coming from Indiana to Baltimore. The truck driver was the coolest to talk to also. Very personable and a regular guy, with 11 kids! His name was Joe and I was very glad to shake his hand and tip him too. 11 kids, he's the man!

cool! I think that's the Tiger that lit the fire under me to start looking for one, talking to dale about finding one in my neck of the woods got me past daydreaming and actually saving money to purchase one. (I put 100 bucks a month away for a LONG time) dosent sound like alot, but it worked! you're gonna have fun, I know I am! that looks like it is in good shape. you're right though, most of the non Tiger specific parts are still out there. Pat I'm glad you are happy and too know this went too a board member is great. (that's what I hoped for) just so every one knows I have rode the tigers and love them but no where too flattrack race them locally was a downfall. So instead I'm building extreme drag machines to race locally.I couldn't modify the original parts too what I wanted with a clear conscience. so off they go. So far all the 250's are gone I will be selling more tiger stuff very soon on ebay. in trade so far I have a tri-z and a 85r with lots of work done too the motor. both will be racers

Congrats on the Tiger! If you need any help with anything just ask. Alot of info is out there with the Tiger owners. I just found a place that sells the rear calipers for just over $100.00, and rear masters for less than that. Have fun with the build.

http://secure.mycart.net/catalogs/catalog.asp?prodid=4888789&showprevnext=1 Heres the link for the rear caliper and rear master cylinder. Also they have the rebuild kits for both. The other places that carry the same parts are Storz Performance, Wakula Racing, and PMFR. When you click on the link, go to the online catalog and click on brakes for the rest of the parts.

In about 6 months the TIGER registry and tiger web page will get massive changes. I am planning on adding the wide front end as an additional machine, There is another center mount regular style (with one sided radiator shroud mount) frame in florida. I have gotten emails and pictures from other tiger owners with other machines to add and I have some things myself which I am keeping under wraps for now:naughty: :naughty: Again welcome to the club....I am sad to see Dale getting out of the tigers because I do know how much he appreciates the machine and the history behind them.

Trizilla, No updates, ran into a little snag. No big deal really, but stalled the project some as all little snags do. LOL I still have those parts and that trike for ya! LOL Can you get that seat cover copied? I've been looking for one of those for awhile and you beat me to it fair and square. I haven't seen one pop up for a good 3 years and I was flat outbid on the last one. Did you see the "Hi Flite" for the 185s? I had to get that one. Really nice and has the "tag" on the back, just like my Tiger seat. I couldn't pass it up. I really do need to get moving on some of these projects though. I'm going to have some "adult supervision" with the Tiger though. LOL I want to try and do a really nice job with it. Let me know when you get that track going. Resend me your email and I will send you that ebay auction for the seat.

Progress Report. Well, I took the Tiger and a Tub of parts up to blue27s' house. It was raining too hard this morning to get the other double tub of parts loaded up. Saw lots of wrecks of idiots along the highway on the way up. Arrived in one piece and offloaded the Tiger and parts. And I have to say I always look forward to visiting Bruce and his wife Alyssa and his 2 daughters. Just Super people to hang around and always a blast. Well, first things first, and after exercising my kicking leg, then adding some premix.. we got the Tiger started! Very cool indeed, but we really couldn't ride it mainly due to not having any brakes. We inventoried the parts in the tub, and quite a few Tiger parts at that. Then we proceeded to take the Tiger apart to the frame. They are a purpose built trike and there really are no extra bits on there to bother with. The frame was repaired in 3 places, but they were known about and we came up with a plan of attack to get started. We dropped a set of rear fenders and the wide tire front fender off at the fiberglassers shop to get some molds made. Soon there will be fiberglass wide tire front fenders available if anyone needs them. Some parts will be ordered in the next week or 2 and maybe in a months time or so, she'll be a roller. We hope to get the rest of the parts needed to freshen up the engine that didn't come in the parts bin. I want this Tiger to be a runner, so to not trash the Tiger axle and hubs and such, I'll be going with a honda rear axle and 300ex hubs to get a little more rear width. I'll have some better options with the rear wheels and tires too. Like I said, not going for a resto, just a clean rider. And there are enough parts to build another Tiger! And enough parts left over to do another little project that I've wanted to do for some time. So the whole Tiger deal has worked out really sweet for me. It will take some work, but I've seen worse trikes for project starters. And I know it will never be completely correct, but it will be for fun. Blue took pics today, so maybe he'll post some later. The wheels are in motion.

Winter pensyltucky ride? When is that? I wonder when was the last time a Tiger was ice racing? You'll have to give me some pointers on tires and studs. Does this mean if I make it up and I'm a rookie, that I'll have to put yellow tape around my grab bar or on the back of my helmet?

Cool, I thought the rear molds were made for the regular. The fiberglass rear is slightly different but the later version would look fine. Here are some pics of Original Blue (painted at the tiger factory) front and Rears....note the rear comes to more of a point where it meets the tank...I also got my wide tank refinished back from paint this week) this was the earlier version of the tank with the hump and cut out for the seat pan....tiger never kept anything the same.

I have been playing with the tigers again and am having a blast........ almost five years and it hasnt worn out for me yet....going to unveil two more rare ones in the upcoming months:naughty:

HEY!!! I always enjoy when you come up here, its a blast. Hereare some ppics of Vealmonkey's Tiger in my very cramped garage, lol. The rear fender on his was PVC fender and the repros I am having done are molded after that. Luckly Vealmonkeys not real picking about being all original and as OC said Tiger never did any trike the same.

Notice in that second picture, the intake for the carb is through the side case! Dale mentioned something about a franks side cover if I remember right. Notice the wet dog/helper in the third pic, instrumental in Tiger disassembly. OC, my wide front fender is different than yours. I'm not really sure if my tank is the same either. Also when we had the Tiger all torn down, Bruce and I didn't see any number on the flat spot of the frame. Now there are 3 unnumbered frames at Bruces, and soon to be an unknown fourth frame. OC, do you have much info on the center shock mounted Tiger frames. The one I have looks like a center shock mount with the mounting for the radiator still off to the left of the frame. Is that how Dr. Deaths Tiger is? Do I have some crazy transition Tiger frame? Or were all the center shock mounted frames like that?
As cool as the Tiger is, it probably wouldn''t have been possible without Blue27s' help and rear fenders! Bruce and his wife Alyssa and his daughters are the best of people and somewhat tolerate my interruption of thier routines. I'm learning alot and really enjoying the whole deal. I've also gotten to meet some really cool people that will be doing the fenders and some paint work and I'm sure the powder coater is just as cool. The guys doing the fiberglass molds and the painting though are the coolest though. They have a great little shop and are just regular guys to talk to and are really into vintage bikes. Maybe Bruce will ask the guys if we can post the name of their shop and their phone number for anyone around that maybe interested in some of thier work. The quality of their work is amazing and I couldn't say anything about their prices either. I know they'll get some more of my work in the future. The bikes they had there were simply amazing. I'm excited about seeing what turns out with the front fender mold which I'm sure will be top notch and they'll be fixing a couple chips in my tank and painting that for me too. I'm really digging how this project is starting out. I was a little upset that no one made me a bracelet yesterday though. LOL Maybe if I ask nicely I can get one, blue and white please.

I believe a few things happened with tiger....as far as the early models (the first runs) the wide ones had the hump in the tank, fiber rears with the point etc...they went from an aluminum shroud to a fiberglass one...I think what happened when they started making changes...THEN they mixed and matched thats why you see a wide with a newer style tank.....Same thing with the transition to the Dr Death machine.....They decided that a center mount may be a better idea....(thats what they did with the super 4)....they first added a center mount to the regular tiger frame....that what you have...Then they decided to change the whole ball game with the 86 tiger!! I have an extended tiger swinger that had both mounting options I bought off a former tiger racer who bought it direct from tiger. You have some cool stuff and its fun to piece together the history.

Vealmonkey
09-28-2008, 04:45 PM
Wether you intended to or not, OC, you have become the Tiger historian. Are your notes being put in book form? Not kidding about that one either. It would make for some great reading if you could have some rider stories and stories from the founder too. And then what facts and such you have. Does anyone know the name of the woman in the sandals and the hard hat? There had to be people that made the frames and fenders and machined the parts and assembled the tikes. I think those are the people that you should be seeking out and getting some info from. I'm sure if you could compare some of the workers stories, you could really fill in the gaps of the history. That would be some great material for neat little book. And a nice forward by the founder and yourself. Pictures and documents too. It wouldn't hardly get any cooler. And then some info on parts sources and colors and such. I don't know how many you would sell. Heck, you could even just assemble the pages and stuff yourself and sell them in a binder as opposed to the costs or editing and publishing and book making. I'm sure you could sell some copies of those. Even to people that don't have Tigers but are interested. It seems that except for some old magazines and shop manuals and a couple websites, there really isn't any difinitive compiled info on any trikes, let alone trikes in general. It would probably take some time, but it seems like you are sort of on the way in that general direction as it is. I hope that you possibly update your Tiger page sooner than you were expecting to.

Yes I have had the great opportunity to get my hands on alot of these machines and continue to learn alot from many people, I wish I could get all this done sooner as well...life has been to busy to do all the things I really enjoy...Progress is always being made and my standards are pretty high. A book would be cool ........with what I am planning to do with the site will make it at least 5 times as big with pictures, info, and history, etc etc. I have received lots of emails throught the site which have provided me with lots of people that owned/raced them in the day....I have a few things under wraps right know...just my nature, I like to work behind the scenes then unveil things with before and after pics:naughty: Tiger fans wont be disappointed I promise :D

OC, keep up the good work and don't keep us in suspense for too long. Throw us a bone on your webpage too. LOL
Dale, this is really cooler than I thought it would be. I never doubted your word as far as the trike running, but it was still another whole deal when it started. I've bought a trike or 2 that weren't anywhere near being able to start, so a starting trike is kind of not only an added bonus, but an inspiration to get it nice and rideable. I hope to get the double tub up to blues' soon so we can see all the goodies in there. Even Bruce got a little more psyched seeing all the parts and then I showed him the pictures you emailed of all the parts and the frame before you packed them all up. I hadn't opened up either tub until it was in Bruces' garage, so it was like Christmas. It was tempting to ride without brakes, but I figured I'd be better off to get it a little more ride worthy first, mainly as in stoppable! If it turns out like Bruce and I think it will, it will have been my most fun project yet. Not possible without you Dale, or any of the other Tiger owners, builders and restorers. I really appreciate the help and info that everybody has offered. I hope I can return the favor for the next new Tiger owner. I hope for some more progress and pics soon. I hope someone else steps up and gets a Tiger and embarks on their own adventure. There are more options and more info for getting one of these Tigers going everyday. Keep finding all the goodies everyone.

Bruce took alot of pics yesterday. I was just having too much fun to take pics. Bruce said he would be looking up all the bearings and such. Bob, did you ever find a place for the bushings in the swingarms or did you have some made or did you just reuse yours? We found numbers on the neck bearings, so Bruce is calling the local bearings house and seeing what we can get for those too. There were 2 out of 4 rubber grommets where the seat mounts were, have you sourced those out? What about fork internals like seals and stuff, did you have to get new of those? And where did you find them. Not only do I have this Tiger to do, but there is a second frame that we will have to source the same expendable parts out for like all the bearings and such. And I know Bruce wants to dive into his 200 engine and I know we're going into mine to check some things and at least replace a shifter seal that Dale said is leaking. If you have any parts numbers, please relay those to Bruce. Dale did send me a can-am engine book so we have some info and Bruce has a Tiger engine numbers set of papers but we have nothing on Tiger frame parts numbers, like it would really matter except for information purposes. Do you have any Tiger maintenance info in print that could be useful? Maybe frame and parts diagrams and numbers and such? Maybe you could tell Bruce where you got your puller from since he says he wants to buy one since he has a couple Tigers and I have a bunch of parts? Thanks for helping with any info.

My 250 had really nice swinger bushings in it, so I re-used them. My 200 has a couple pieces. I will need to make some or find some for the 500. The neck bearings are easy. Just take one down to the local parts store and they can match it. I dont know what to tell you about the fork part and seals. I have 3 different sets of Tiger forks. I have a 35mm set, a 36mm set and a 38mm set. If you need some part #s, let me know what your looking for and I can try and help. There is a flywheel puller on ebay right now. Check out http://www.rtrmoto.com/ for a bunch of Can-AM/Rotax stuff. Oh-yeah, the seat gromets. I have looked for them, but havent found any. Lucky I have enough for the 200 and 250.

Update on the Tiger project. I got the other tubs of parts up to blue27s' house and we opened them up. Centermount shock frame and swinger, the other bearing carrier assembly, more triple trees, fork tubes and lower legs, wheels and some other goodies. Blue got some more pictures so he should post a couple in the next day or 2. We picked out some tires and looked up places to order parts from and will order some more this week. There are some small black parts at the powder coaters and the tank at the painter where the fender molds are being made. Hopefull in a week or 2 she'll be a roller. Also, we got some things cleaned up and sorted out and transferred and rearranged. You know, those chore type things no one likes doing but are a real necessity. I brought the PK Racing suspension 70 frame back home to Baltimore. I think we made good progress on several things today.

Well, It's been awhile, but here is the latest progress. The frame and all the parts to be powdercoated blue went to and have come back from the powdercoaters. The "Project Manager" (LOL) says that the color is off so now the search is on for a closer color of powder coat. The parts are really nice and smooth and shiney though. The seat has gone to and come back from the upholstery shop and looks really sharp and the shop got the hi flite patch put on the back as well, very trick indeed. Tires are in and mounted up, which is a mini story unto itself and I'll owe the "Project Manager" forever. I'm sure my family name and a couple tire manufacturers were cursed as well during this revolution. All my black parts have been powdercoated and are looking mighty sweet. My shock has been rebuilt and is amazing to behold. My tank has had the chips in it repaired and has been repainted and is quite the sight. Still waiting on fenders, one to be molded and one mold to be finished. Engine case parts have been sent to be powdercoated and awaiting their return. And all kinds of engine parts have been arriving, mainly just all the bearings and seals and gaskets that I didn't have with the parts that I received from Dale. Amazingly enough, through all this and my emails, Bruce has seemed to have kept his sanity. Not the least of which just with dealing with his regular job and everyday family life, not saying anything negative about any of that, but just dealing with life itself. I only get to visit and interrupt on occasion for all the fun stuff. Bruces' wife Alysa and Daughters are the best people though and seem to tolerate my interruptions, bless them for their tolerance. I have to try and get the pictures Bruce sent transferred over so I can post a couple unless he reads this and has time to toss a couple of pictures on. Hopefull soon, especially since the holidays are coming up, we get some time to assemble. Bruce has a large family and large family obligations. Also, the Pa winter weather can be kind of interesting. I've gone to Bruces' house a time or 2 when all was sunny and well and ended up driving home in snow-yee haw! The snow isn't too bad, it's just the Maryland drivers!!! Geesh!!! Anyways, that's the latest. I haven't been up to PA in a couple weeks, and I've been burning up the pm's here for Bruce. So cross your fingers and hope we get a good powdercoat color. Tiger builders, feel free to send your powdercoat colors to blue27! LOL I'm sure some of you guys on here have had trial and error in your colors also. A manufacturers name and color code and where to order the powder would be nice. The guy that powdercoats the frames does a great job. Till next time...TTFN.

After fighting with the tires for 2 hours I finally got them mounted up. I wish the would not ship them flat and smashed!!!!, I but blocks in for the the last week to expand them but it was not enough, WOW that was the worst tire I think I ever mounted, but it will make for a great story, lol. Rears I had to go old school and use a piece of heater hose ducted taped together to act as a bead popper and fill the gap in the rim, once one side is on I put it on a milk crate and push the rim down while airing up, it’s a *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* but it works. On the front , well that wasn’t so easy. I ended up using a Z50 inner tube to fill the gap but it kept blowing out, and then I tried standing on the rim but the inner tube just kept lifting me up and popping off…so I used “The Gem” (that what we call the grey pick up and it had a hard time lifting that. Check the pics.Until the next adventure!!!!
Sorry about the pics I compressed them to upload to the site but it kept saying they were to big so I now joined Photobucket, I want to be like edog and post lots of big pics, lol

Cool! You arent wasting any time are you guys?
I was about to set fire to the Duro I put on mine. It SUCKED!
What size is the front? 20 incher? Looks GREAT so far!

I have a little ways to go on mine, needs all the PC still.
but I found a really close/almost perfect match. I think im gonna run with it.
I can take pics of the color sample against the tank and some of the blue thats still on my frame if you guys want to review it. I dont have the color code yet, but I can come up with it, if it gets the thumbs up!

I spy some pretty fenders there too! Ive been dreaming about those.
Any plans for the later style front fender? or is everyone waiting for the ones from Austrailia? HH :beer :Bounce :beer

Front is a 22x10-10 Innova I-8022 from Achevia Tires http://www.achievatires.com/category.asp?level=2&FID=23. Fenders are coming and a narrow front is in the plans but my fiberglass guys are swamped with alll the other stuff I have there. If you can get the number of the color you are going with that would be great, I am choosing a powder from Tiger Dryloc (yes thats the name) and it has a standard color matching number RAL 5012. I originally picked RAL 5015 because thats what he had in stock but when it was done I was not happy with the color.

I'm glad to see my Tiger is doing so well. LOL I hope to actually get back up to Bruces' so I can actually turn a wrench on it. Guess I shouldn't complain, but it looks like Bruce is having all the fun without me. I know the Tiger project is in the most capable hands, especially when I'm not there! Just chomping at the bit to make it a roller again. Trying not to drive Bruce and his family crazy in the meantime. I'm really looking forward to having this Tiger somewhat returned to it's former glory, notice I didn't say "restored". I want these Tigers to be really nice "riders". What's the fun of having them if you can't ride them or wring them out every once in a while. And I don't have the room or funds for a museum. My living room is full now! LOL

Latest update. I found out from Bruce that somewhere in the United States that there is a Tiger blue floor! Yes, UPS managed to drop the box of blue powder. So another box has been ordered. Not sure how long this is going to take. Damn the setbacks. I was really hoping to be moving forward again on this. I was hoping to have a roller soon and maybe get the engine together and in before the crappy weather sets in. I'm not really sure if Tiger made an optional snow plow! LOL Hopefully UPS will eat the bill for overnight shipping of the powder to try and get things back on track, but not holding my breath on it. Maybe Bruce will post some pictures of the pretty shiney skyblue frame and parts.

New update
Frame and other bits back from powder coaters. Blue is closer then before, ( it looks light in the photo) so I am happy. Engine powder to be done soon. Also prototype fiberglass reproduction rear fender is here for fitting and then we are good to go. Scoop mold is done and wide front fender mold should be done this week. Thats is for now, its time consuming and not one thing has gone as planned but we keep moving forward, lol.

Sweet. Looks like things are a go for Saturday then. I'm glad Bruce is patient since I have been making him a little crazy. Between things happening and just been stuck down here in the big city in general. And I've managed to pick up another trike, and yes, it a Tiger 500. Erectordales' Tiger 500!. It should be here tonight or tomorrow morning. So the Tigers will be reunited and my Tiger family grows!

The latest progress. I went to PA to blue27s' house and we got some assembling done on the Tiger 250. I also had the chance to meet some board members. We fired up the 500 and rode that around some, amazing to say the least. We had the chance to tell some old stories and see some old pictures and eat some pizza too. Here are some pics of the Tiger re-assembly. Not an OC restore by far, but the Tiger 250 will be a really great rider which is what I really wanted. I hope others will get the chance to ride the Tigers.

We had small building spurts in between meeting people and telling stories and comparing notes and enjoying beverages and pizza. And in between starting and riding the 500 too. It was a little difficult to get started at first. The float was sticking so the carb was pulled and cleaned out a little, there seemed to be a little crud in the carb. Reassambled and we got her cranked up. I kept getting popping out of the 500 and it kicked back once or twice which was fun. Bruce was the first to get the 500 fired all the way, but she revved out and luckily there was the dead mans switch. It was real close to being the infamous "death rev"! Got her fired up again as the Tiger 500 was good and warmed up now. LOL Adjusted the idle somewhat and Bruce took the first ride. I took the second ride and what a blast. Several other people took their chance and then it was back to assembling. Here are some more pics of the build.

And here are the last 2 pics I have. It was a great day, we accomplished alot on the Tiger 250. I met some great people. I always enjoy going to Bruces' house and meeting every that stops by and shares thier experiences. When you get to ride it's always a plus. And SWIGIN has this totally trick 250RX. For anyone who hasn't seen this quad it's hard to describe. It is a very purpose built fun machine. It sounds incredibly healthy and has a nice long travel suspension. Several people put this machine through it's paces. It was getting dark and I figured it was best not to ride the quad so late. There are several obstacles in Bruces' yard which are better avoided during more sunlight. Timmy cut a nice donut at throttle though. A better day could hardly have been had. Eric and his wife Wendy drove 4 hours 1 way. My hats' off to them and I hope they had a safe return trip. Enjoy the parts and I want to see pictures real soon.

sykolincoln and blue27 get the credit for the tire. Syko ran one on his flat track 250r and that was what we were looking for. And we had bad reports on the duros for the front. Bruce contacted syko about the tire. And the story just to get the tire was just as bad if not worse than what it took to mount the tire.

2 out of those 5 Tigers are running. Hopefully soon 3 out of the 5 will be running and then the 4th should be running. It might be awhile before the 5th Tiger will be running. What is hardly noticed in those pictures is the poor little half-finshed suspension 70 in the corner. It's in front of the Tiger being put back together. That suspension 70 probably has more work in it than what the Tiger has. Bruce is pretty remarkable in what he has the ability to do when it comes to the trikes and T-shirts and graphic type things. The most amazing part is, you should have seen how many machines he had to move to get that kind of space in his garage! He has machines standing on end to fit in there. And now there is a Tiger roller that is taking up more space. I can't thank Bruce enough for making this all happen. He has been the main force behind this Tiger rebuild.

Progress! I went to PA to blue27s' house and we started the Tiger, Yay! It sounded really healthy too. There are a couple small things to fix and finish. Also waiting on front and rear fenders. Seems there was a slight problem with the molds. There was a really sweet looking scoop though. It should be done shortly though.
But the Tiger starting was paled by bandito90s' new purchase. There was a vintage dirtbike show and swapmeet that was better that I didn't go to, but blue27 and bandito90 and bruces' wife attended. It appears bandito90 picked up a new project rd "POS" 60. This poor 2 stroke 60cc streetbike had seen better days. It looked like someone had ran into the back of a truck with it. It was complete with a custom chin spoiler and it probably had some kind of cafe fairing that was destroyed in whatever kind of accident it had. After some coaxing, the POS 60 was retrieved from the truck and brought inside the garage. After the addition of some premix, some connecting of some disconnected wires and the crossing of the ignition wires and the application of "the magic file" to the points, the bike was properly choked and kicked over a couple of times and it roared to life. And the best part, there was one light on the tachometer that was lit up. A kodak moment for sure if there ever was one. Now, moments like this are why I really enjoy coming up to blue27s' house, but this one took the cake. Swigin, mad and swigins brother jason were all witnesses to the awakening of the beast. It was taken out into the back yard and even moved under it's own power! It seemed like the high speed jet was clogged up though since the bike would start to bog down over 5 miles per hour or so. But it ran and moved. It's a cosmetic challenge though to say the least. Anyone having any left over rd60 parts, especially headlight and turn signal and speedo and tach parts, please save them for bandito90. This bike needs help to be considered socially acceptable. A rd POS 60 is a terrible thing to waste. LOL

01-26-2009, 11:05 AM
I really shouldn't make fun of it. Anything that starts up after looking like that, is either magic or posessed. With some primer and all the headlight and gauge parts, that bike would look totally different. You do need to custom make an exhaust though, that would be pretty trick. A straight pipe and an emgo silencer, to keep with the low budget. You should try and get a title for it though before you put alot into it.

bandito90
01-26-2009, 11:10 AM
I'm looking into the title. From research last night I believe the mx/gt/very early yz top end will work.If the title doesn't work it will be a nice yard beater.I think multiple rd headlights will work on it also.

But the spokes and missing grip take priority.LoL

It's been awhile, but the Tiger 250 is finished! I can tell you Bruce is excited to get the Tiger out of his garage finally. I gotta say, it's pretty fricking sweet compared to what I started with. It starts on the 2nd or 3rd kick. Sounds totally bitchin! LOL I got it back home from Bruces' today and had to run it up and down the street. Had to do some trike shuffling in the garage as well. I'll have to get some pics up tomorrow. Maybe try my hand at a video soon. Also brought home alot of Tiger parts and the suspension 110 frame with the fixed and now properly working engine mounts. Bruce is the man, let me tell you. I think Bruce and DC together would be really neat team. Finalized some plans for the A+ suspension frame to get that finished for the East Coast 70 fest. I hope to have both my suspension 70s up and running and dialed in. So having a couple days off and picking up the Tiger and suspension 110 and some parts and it's a great weekend. Thanks Bruce for making the Tiger happen the way it did. Thanks to his wife Alyssa also for everything that she helped with. Also "Thank You" to guys like OC250r, and Iowa Rotax and Honda Harry and Skippy and even Bandito 90 for all their help and advice and support. It's things like this that make this site and the people on this site so cool. I'd imagine that they are tool steel, or the heat built up (from braking) would warp any mild steel.

So, I bet the make them from a tool steel and finish grind them with some type of rotary fixture.

I'm sure one could be cut, holes drilled, heat treated and surface ground on a regular flat grinder with a magnetic base. I'm sure it can be duplicated..........

I know you guys try to keep things OEM and I understand. But, I'd build my own front hub and adapt a disc from?? before I had one made.

There are LOTS of disc brakes out there, something must be close. Maybe even a small change and or adapter could work......

Do you have a picture of the front hub and or disc?

Unless yours is too thin, you may be able to surface grind it depending on how warped it is. It doesn't take much to feel it in the handle!! I just made a custom holder for the ATC70 rear disc and it was tough to get it dead nuts but indicators don't lie!! :D

As much as I need the garage space, i miss it, one of the shinest trikes in the garage...but it is in a good home...enjoy Pat

as for the rotors they are not hardened, I really should get them done, I have the cad file for the rotors just need to send it somewhere and would like to have them plated to look original.

These rotors would be easy as pie to do on a water jet. You could even do stainless ones. Are they flat or offset? Flat would make them even easier.

They are flat from what I see. Who has a water jet?

The Tiger story reminds me a little bit of Cannondale Motorsports. I used to own an E440. A crying shame about them.

Well here goes nothing. First Video. Not professionally edited or anything. LOL Don't mind that I didn't get all dressed up here, the video is of the Tiger and not me.

Wow, just amazing(that it's finally home!!!), You(and Bruce)have really out done yourself, Pat. There's no one anywhere with a 250 that's nicer. Now, when are you going to take it for a ride? I'm serious, I want to see it MOVE. There's gotta be some place nearby where you can run it, just to see how it feels/handles.
Very, very nice.

"My dad is a T.V. repairman and has a really bitchin' set of tools. We can fix it." It was meant to be ridden. You don't have to break the sound barrier on it. LOL

Hopefully a riding video here soon, but I will need an assistant, and some time off! LOL I had 4 days to actually get caught up on things that I didn't have the chance to do while on my 18 straight days of working 12, with 1 16 hour shift. Now I'm back on 12 hour shifts until further notice. Yay. Except for rebuilding the crank and powdercoating all the engine parts, the engine is all blue27. And don't ask him how many times he had to pull the engine to fix a couple leaks and get the bike to shift! He can pull a Tiger engine in 7 minutes now!!!! And that is with draining anti freeze and disconnecting hoses.
