It really boils down to how much you want it, and how much money you have.
In my opinion if you've got the money and you want to buy it then go for it.
I would buy the bike you describe for 1000.

so i went and bought the 350x today. its an 85 all stock except for the super trapp exhaust. motor has never been into runs like a champ. it also has a twist throttle. i had to drive bout an hour and a half but it was well worth it. i really underestimated the power of this trike. 1st ride up and down the road had my jaw dropped.
Picture does not do it justice.. just a crappy camera phone

looks like a plastic tank?? or just a paint job? I'ts been worked on for sure. But if it runs good ..... It does look good also. So if you only spent $1000 or less I say good score. Ride the snot out of it and have fun!!!!!

You got a good deal for sure The only issue with an 85 is the frame on the left side. It's prone to cracking. Heres a pic of mine that was hacked back together to give you an idea on where it cracks

great lookin X you got yourself, the twist throttle really gets it. i installed one today and she took me for a ride. wasn't expecting that response out of it. did you get the chain adjusted right?

Thanks yea i am still trying to get used to how touchy it is. i ended up taking the sprocket off and using a big pipe wrench on it. adjusted it all the way and its still to loose. I def need to invest in a new chain and sprocket. trying to decide if i should change the stock number of teeth or not.

Looks like you got a heck of a deal. I'd pay a grand for an x in that shape any day of the week.
Stock gearing is 13/41 i believe. I'm running a 14 tooth front with the stock rear sprocket and 20" rear tires. You can definitly feel the accelration diffrence over stock. I can wheelie with no effort the first three gears. but it cuts off your top end a bit.
I just picked up a PRM desert grab bar for around $70 and couldn't be happier. http://prm-atv.com/MN.asp?pg=products&grp=40&mfr=2 I'm still able to strap a soft cooler on the back for those long hot rides no problem. :D . A 200x grabber is the same thing if you search ebay for a decent used one. but for the price you might end up paying I'd go with a new PRM.

i thought the stock set up was 13/40?? i might be wrong. i think iam just gonna pick up a stock chain and sprocket set then maybe have some higher geared sprockets when i wanna outrun some quads..
ya i will look in to that i have been watching ebay. havent found anything too nice yet. i like the baja grab bar but iam not to sure how that would look. anyone have one?
