I'm probably not using the correct terminology here but it seems like DG and FMF are basically the only options for a lot of 2 stroke 3-wheelers (not all). Well other than a something like Jemco which is made to order and quite expensive. My brother just emailed them about a pipe for his Tecate and they are still available if anyone is interested.
I have found a vintage pipe that is made in sections, hope that makes sense. I guess it's hand made pipe that is welded together in sections. I have no idea on a brand, it does not say anywhere. Is it worth picking up? Its under $100.
Basically my question is, just because it apears to be a hand made pipe does that mean it's a good pipe? If there are hand made pipes out there that are the equivellent of DG or FMF I'll have to think twice.

they are hit and miss, but $100 sounds good.

I just picked up a custom pipe of of ebay for $25 shipped. I don't know much about it though. All the add said is that it was a custom pipe. So when I get it i will have to try and figure out what it is.

used for $100? I'd say no real money unless there is concrete proof of it's origin. DG's new cost just over that uncoated. I'd be learey of the fit unless you have pics of it in place....plastic cut aways=poor workmanship. I think for under $55 shipped and then maybe.

No the add description was for a pipe for an 85-85 ATC. it is a two stroke pipe. I figured even if it is a stock one I am not out any money for $25.

If you don't mind sending some cash check with this guy.

Yes, I do build a system for the '85 KXT250 tecate. It sells for $275.00 +
$25.00 shipping. Nickel-plating is an additional $70.00. This pipe uses a
stock silencer. Delivery is 4 weeks after pre-payment by money order. Call
the shop at 713-461-3834 to discuss and place your order. Thanks,

why *Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited**Edited* about the price for a 2 stroke pipe?? you could have a 450r and need a new headpipe and silencer for it..... 600 dollars later!! 250-300 for a new jemco or a paul turner is well worth it.... I lucked out and got a sectional pipe for my 85 a few years ago... no marking as to whome made it... but basically came to that it closely resembles a paul turner in size and fit and shape... poaaibly made by dynoport... its a great pipe and wouldnt sell it for anything new.. got it for 50

Well it has a few small dents on the very bottom like from a log or something but they are easily fixable and probably won't make a difference anyway.
I know someone who does powerder coating, ceramic coating and he also has a coating good to 2000 degrees that he can polish to a near chrome finish. I'm not sure what do do yet but I'm leaing toward the near chrome finish coating.
I got it for $60 shipped, I guess that's ok. I'm sure it's way better than a brand new DG or FMF which cost a lot more and are about the only options for an 84 250R. What do you think? I have no idea what it is! ha ha.

I know what you mean about the price. It is a good deal and well worth it. I've bought 3 new exhaust systems for my ATV and look at the prices of them.
ESR for 1985 ATC250R- $210
White Brothers for 2003 400EX- $475
Yoshimura for 2004 450R- $450
So yeah $370 shipped for a Jemco with nickel coating is a damn good deal.

A decrease in power? Well that sucks! Why are you still using it? Do you have any other mods to your bike?
A few years back I bought a brand new in the box Kerker full system for an 81/82 250R for $20. And at that time I had another 84 250R but it was a parts bike. There was no getting that 81/82 exhaust on the 84 and I ended up selling the Kerker system for a huge profit.
I cant see photobucket at work, anyway you can host it to this site to I can se it?

make sure the silencer is packed well... a unpacked silencer will kill power sometimes... also a pipe needs to be tuned, if not you may see that decrease in power... so you need to increase in other areas to get it right.
