Looks like these things are pretty common, but this one runs better than i would have expected. I bought it for 300 bucks, and traded an old beat laptop for it. What i wanted was an ice fishing rig, and i think i did pretty well with this thing.. It seems to be really tight. first thing i did was change the oil, as it really needed it. I put some 10-30 i had waiting for my lawn tractor in it.. Hopefully it doesn't take anything special. It had been dumped, as the front brake lever got broken, and it has a slight wobble at anything above 10-15 mph, but not bad.... So i ordered one from e-bay for about 15 bucks new yesterday. Needs an air filter as well.. Any other tips to make sure she is in the best shape i can make a 24 yeay old wheeler?.. Thanks in advance.. Scott

You probably should do the routine tune up things: Check the valve clearance & spark plug. When you changed to oil, did you clean out the oil screen?
I'd also replace the fork oil, it's easy and if the oil is 24 years old, it's shot.

Looks good. They must have kept it covered or inside out of the sun. The tires don't look too bad. When I got my 83 185 the worst part was the tires. Its still waiting to have the tank and carb cleaned. Its also has a broken hand brake lever. I picked mine up for $50.00

Fork oil eh?.. Is that just tranny fluid? Is there a drain in them somewhere? Yes i cleaned the filter screen out good. I will replace the plug today, but i have never adjusted valve clearance before, and it makes me nervous..Tires are like new, but have some small weather cracking..Nothing serious. Will any type of 10-30 oil be fine to use in this? i plan on some cold weather operation.

any good quality 10-30 will work fine for cold weather operation, however if you run it in the summer you might want a little heavier weight oil in it, if you really want to go the extra mile put synthetic oil in it, it will last longer and have smooth clutch operation and maybe even a little more performance, i dont think fork oil is trans fluid, they have specific weights. the drain plug should be on the very bottom of the fork down by the brake drum. go out and get a clymer manual it will show you how th adjust the valves and it's relatively easy to do and not very time consuming. make sure to adjust the cam chain as well.

If I was ya, I wouldn't mess with the fork oil, this thing isn't made for jumps... If the forks seals are not oozing anything just leave it alone... For $300 bones just ride the FUZUCK out of it. Check valves, clutch adjustment, oil I used 10w30w or sometimes just SAE30. Take a look at the air filter, replace if you need to. Make sure you check out the chain, lube it and check tire pressure. Front brakes have always been weird on them, I have (2) 200's and I just disconnected my front brakes, the rears work good enough for me. They are a fun little trike and can handle most anything, just becareful not to push them to hard or they'll bite back ;)

my seats cracked it the same spot and are they aluminum rims on the rear, they look awesome. They may but small bikes but do they ever have a lot of power and like maxfior said they can bite, i got some scares to prove it

When i was 13 i had one similar that was souped up for ice racing by my uncles.. I really crashed it a couple of times to the tune of 4 cracked ribs, broked wrist, and helmet strap took all the skin from my neck..It sucked pushing it home 3 miles that day.

The air filter in this one was falling apart, so i removed it to not suck up pieces of it, and im trying to find a replacement locally. Hard to find though.. It has tons of tourque for sure..and goes right along, but i dont want to push it or take it in dust until i get a filter installed. Replaced the plug and it was BLACK..Jet sooty black. But it runs and idles great, so it must be a testament to the honda motors. very clean for a machine this old, but the exhaust pipe from muffler to engine will eventually need to be replaced as it's rusting. Otherwise im pretty happy..Oh.. Thanks very much for the manual link topless.. Im still freaked about adjusting the valves on it..Ill have to get over it though. I don't have the adjuster tool they use in the manual..
