Who is ESR?

What is the intake boot that they recommend for $51? Is it necessary?

It took some finess but I installed the 38 MM on my 88 "R". I put some
"weiner schlider" on both sides of the carb and just kept workin it till she went in. Once I had it all bolted up I used a heat gun to expand the boots a little and conform the fit on both sides. Now I can take it on and off with a little more ease. If you try this I recomend starting it up and using starting fluid or carb cleaner to check for air leaks. I have also heard that CR boots will work but have not confirmed that.
