On the chain side rite where the hole for the shock bolt thingy is. bent the hell outta the skid plates and mounts too.

Can't get pics yet but its about a 1/4" above (or from) that hole. Can I trust it if it's welded or should I replace it.

good thing is that if it has to be replaced it was all taken apart and cleaned a few months ago. So it shouldn't be too bad. but a really dont want to take it all apart again. whaddya think?

I dont know about welding it, I would replace it personally.

if you, or someone you know is a good welder, try that first, just make sure its in the right spot.

it will be cheaper to fix, and you could also add an extra small brace to it to ensure it wont re-break.
keep an eye on it after that for a while to make sure it holds up.
will be cheaper to fix if you weld it, and theres nothing to lose.

There's nothing wrong with welding it as long as it's done right. Hell, it was welded from the factory.

LOL@ Mike. If I replace it,, it will be the 3rd one since last novemeber. I busted the crap outta the original one that was on there as well.

This one even had heavy duty home made steel brackets for the skid plate. I'm starting to think going with the 20's on the rear aint such a good idea any more. I can use that extra 2 inches of ground clearance.

Anyone have a decent swinger for a good price? :D Gonna need a skid plate too I think.

Edit; So is this a pretty commom problem with the 85's too or do I just have bad luck?

i wouldn't call it bad luck, i'd call it a weak/bad design

aftermarket arms have a plate welded on both sides when there's a hole in the side.

i'd weld it and plate it....1/8'' or 10 guage is what i'd use.
