Could someone who knows clear something up for me. What is the difference, besides the color, of the differentials in the 250ES and 250SX? Someone told me the gear ratio is different in them? I see them on EBay listed as fitting both bikes. I'm restoring a 250Sx and I have the differential from it I rebuilt and I have a Big Red differential I rebuilt a while back that I can also use. I didn't pay attention to the gear ratio on either one when I rebuilt them though. Just thought it would be neat to put the Big Red diff in the SX if it was geared a little higher.

bigred is geared lower, it had taller tires. Bigred rearend in a sx will be slower mph at same rpm.

The Big Red is geared lower than the SX. The TRX250 (IIRC) is geared the same as the Big Red. I'm running the TRX rear in my SX, with 22 inch tires it is slow! I run a 25 inch tire on my somewaht modified SX. Unless you want a slow torque monster, run the SX diff with 22's (factory setup) or use the Big Red diff with some 25's.
