I was at a local business the other day and was talking to the owner. We started talking about 3 wheelers. Turns out he has a '85 big red, and its for sale. Here is the problem. He was offered $500 for it, but the guy doent have the cash at the moment. He tells me to go out back of his store and check it out. I didnt have a camera but it is buried in weeds and vines. Both rear tires flat to the rim and dry rotted. Rear fenders cracked and broken with bad repairs. Seat is ripped open. No side covers and the front rack has a really bad bend in it. It also doesnt have the headlight, and gas tank is full of rust. That is all I could tell with all the weeds around it.
My question what do you think it is worth. Im thinking $150 tops. Just want some other opinions on price.
Thanks for the help.

I think 150 sounds good. Considering it's gonna cost you more than 500 to get it looking and running good.

Did you say side covers? Is that referring to the engine? If so I'd say 50-

I mean the plastic covers that cover the kick start and left side.

Depends where you are I guess. Here it would probably go for about 300 bucks IF it turned over, sparked etc...but the guys are right, I think you're looking at at least 600-1000$ to get the thing going, and that's before the cosmetics get done. Sounds like it would be a GREAT parts bike for 150 bucks though or a good project bike.

He thinks he is sitting on a rare piece of machinery. He kept saying it turn right over, its only been a couple of years since it was last run. I think he wont want to go less than $400. I will ask him today. If no deal I will ask him next year when its still sitting in the weeds.

At least tell him to drop a few drops of oil down the plug and turn the engine over!
Get a picture if you can too, I always like to cringe on how some people "take care" of these beauties!
