Well it took a long time searching but I finally found a Big Red worth getting. This belonged to an old retired gentleman's wife. He bought two of these brand new for him and his wife. She never really used it. The seller says it probably has less than 400 km's on it. I believe it!!! The exhaust is still black  , the tires still have "stubbles" and the red line on the threads !!! The thing is MINT!! When he took these pictures it was the first time it was outside in about 15 years!!! It was sitting so long it wouldn't start a few weeks ago so he brought it to the local Honda shop and they rebuilt/cleaned the carb. All the gas had gummed up the fuel system so they cleaned it all up. He had it advertised on Kijiji and when I was at his place looking at it he got 4 more calls on it!

Final total for me 1000$. I guess I joined the "What a find" club. :w00t:

Here are his add pics, I'll take my own later and show you how clean this baby is!!!!

What a thief! Good work.

IMHO, you should take about 20,000 pictures of every part of the bike and document it. I'll give you space on my gallery if you want. It can really help the guys who are restoring them. That thing is a time capusle.

Alrighty, here are some decent pictures I took myself of the BR. It got a little wet in a rain shower but that's ok, probably the first time it's seen water in 20 years. Took it out for a boot, I can't believe how tight this thing is. It's like I just got it from a dealer. I also forgot how hot the air cooled jobs get! She sure throws a lot of heat! :D

If anybody needs specific pictures for anything, just ask, I can get around to taking more...

Beautiful bike for sure. Take real good care of that one. All original, oem examples are getting extremely rare. Nice tow vehicle for that little yard cart you've got!

Taiser, i'm speechless! What a score! The photos you posted are pretty detailed, but if you could would you post some pics of some of the electrical parts? I have an '85 Big Red, but the previous owner coddled together some of the electrical parts and i'm not sure how they're supposed to look or where they go, and right now i don't have a Big Red in the condition of yours to go by, and the photos in the manual are kinda grainy. Some of the things i'm not sure about are the main fuse, starter solenoid, starter relay, and wiring to the rectifier, just about everything! Some up close photos would be awesome!

Saturn...

Here are some that I took earlier today of the electrical. If they are not good enough just let me know I can take more detailed ones tomorrow!! I'm using a Nikon D200 so/or if you want, PM me your email address and I can send you the original photos or close ups of whatever else you need/want. They will be at least 2megs apiece (bigger if you want) but you can zoom the crap out of them. These photos also don't have the flash on so they may be a bit dark in the shadows. Just let me know what more you need, but I'll add the specific ones you asked for tomorrow! :D

Check your plugs and make sure the jetting is right on. If a 4 stroke in lean it will run hot. I looks like it's bone stock, but it's easy to check out.

would you mind posting a close up of your foot brake set up?

Taiser

Plug was changed by the dealer when they cleaned out the fuel system, I'm assuming they put the right one in, but I'll double check it..thanks. I'll grab some shots of everything close up (including the brakes :D )and add them on later this morning.

It's a good thing you got it when you did, looks like it has a few mouse droppings near the starter, awesome find, way to go and good luck with it

Ha, those were taken well after my first ride. I think those are seeds, I've been blazing trails with it. I was worried about mice actually when I first looked at it, but checked all the cables and the air box, no signs of them. It was stored in a decent garage also..thank god!!

Nice find

I had a 250 just like it as a kid 250 , Brings back memories.

Don't modify it, just enjoy it for what it is.

Thanks...

Yeah I doubt I'd ever modify it, that's why I'm building a 250R :D. My last machines were a 200 big red (long gone), a full size 185 (also long gone) and a tri-moto 200shaft (gone about 4 years ago). I still have my 110. This thing blows them all away, TONS OF POWER, it's great. The full suspension is night and day too compared to my older BR. There are tons of beautiful forested trails on my and my neighbors property and this thing is sweet. I doubt my 250r will be used much here (too noisy) but the BR just cruises smoothly. I just wished they'd start making them again...can you imagine a BR, r any other trike, with full independant rear suspension??? That would be SWEET!
