Howdy. I've got a 1985 Honda ATC250r. I decided to put a +6 swing arm on it, and since the 85 model year is the bass turd child I decided to have the SA built using 1986 and up components. So I got the swing arm, billet bearing carrier, chrome 86 axle and a 86 Brake Caliper Stay.
So here's where I ran into trouble, the 85 caliper won't bolt up to the 86 Brake Stay. And the 85 Brake Stay doesn't work with the new 86 & up swing arm! Do I need to replace the caliper too???

No. The carrier housings at the back of the swingarsm are completely different from the 85-86. And the brake caliper mounting is different. The 86 has a solid pin that a slotted plate goes over. The 85 has a torque arm that bolts onto the side of the swingarm. The shock locations and the front pivot areas are the same. Thats about it though.

Would you be able to use an 86 brake stay and axle on a 85 swingarm, Carrier? I know I would need to make something on the side of the 85 swingarm to keep the brake stay from moving around.
