ok i got my 84 250r all together last night and began by hecking for any spark. none. i ran throught the clymers manual and tested the stator according to the manual. my light side has good continuity, my coil side of the stator has 0 ohms to case ground, manual says supposed to be like 240. this is on the red and black wire, that is a bullet connector. it is clean and wire is in great condition. is there any more checks that i can do to make sure it is the stator? or if you all have any further tests, i would greatly appreciate it.

ok. i have gone through all of the history stuff that i could find in here. one of them said to check and see if the light is flickering or "trying to come on" when it is being kicked over, no it is not.

Have you got a kill switch fitted? if so it might be worth disconnecting it.

no i don't have a kill switch fitted. just stock on and off switch from factory.

try unhooking the stock switch and see if it fires. it sounds like its time for a stator

i by passed the switch last night and still nothing. i am going to take the stator out and see what is going on. plus i think i will split open the harness and redo it all. i figure it probably is time.

does any one know where i can find a stator besides ebay?

Ebay may be your only choice unless someone here has an extra.

well, i figured it out some what. i got my stator off. the wire going to the stator is good to the base where the windings start. then going through the stator my ohms goes away. ground side of it is good.

also checked out my coil since my stator is bad, did it take out the coil. well it looks like it is bad also. man when it rains it pours for me.

but on a good note, checked all of the wires and they are all good. so don't need to redo the entire wiring harness.

we shall see how this all plays out,

does anyone know of any kind of upgrade for the ignition of an 84 250r?
