Trike handleing

I live in alaska so there is not many places to ride but my cousin owns a few acres of wetlands(muskeg, bogs, moss, mud) so that is where i ride. so far my tri moto 125 has done better then all my fourwheelers and even some four wheel drive models. It doesn't get stuck that often because it's light in the front and it's a 2 stroke so i zips right along. Does anyone else ride in muskeg? how do your trikes do?

i dont ride there, I live in ohio, but my 200x, is nice in the trails, i can keep up with most people, if it's a trail i know. plus it's reliable as anything.

same here i ahve a 85 200x and went riding saturday. one of my buddys at work and his sone. his son has a 07 350 raptor and i was staying with him

20 years ago in my home town we had bogs/ponds with the moss growing all around and slowly closing off the ponds. The moss was few feet deep, with the pond under it. We use to go out there and set up minnow traps. When I would drive on it with my YTM200EK I could see a "wave" in front of the front tire but the moss held, neatest thing ever...until my buddy with his brand new fourtrax 4x4 went crashing right through the moss!!! None of us on trikes ever caved it in, but him with his skinny tires did...we never realized how deep the water was under the moss, and after he crashed through we couldn't get to his bike because the moss now kept caving in at the edges. Finally got it out with an argo pulling it. I'm glad the environmentalist weren't watching us!!!! Yeah trikes ruled the muskegs in our parts :D, but soon all the quads were wrecking all these areas and soon made most of them unpassable!!! :crazy:

My tri moto does way better then my blaster, it doesn't rip anything up and it floats on water. we have a river that we float across all the time but the four wheelers have big mud tires and ruin the trails. it's very wet here for the last month or two and the trails turned into huge puddles and water pits, my blaster can't even go out there any more(to top heavy):TrikesOwn

Wait a second....you float across the river? Not with you on it, right? I was also wondering about you saying that there's not many places to ride in Alaska. I always imagined all kinds of woods, and...what is it....tundra...to ride on! It's not like that, eh?

Ya i sit on it and my tires float so i float right across, and theres tons of land but all the damn greenies up here closed it down so all the land i ride on is private, i just went riding today it was awesome i jump my trike all the time but it has no suspension so i do it in the muskeg so even if i land hard the grounds soft. i live in south east alaska juneau to be exact its mostly rainforest and wetlands not so much tundra but there are some nice places to ride up towards anchorage like eureka valley i rode 125.6 miles in three days up there on a suzuki king quad.

I've never tried it myself, but I thought your engine would get waterlogged without a snorkel! Most people who have floated their trikes say they float quite well...upside down! Dunno, maybe it's a yamaha thing.

That doesn't surprise me about the greenies. From down here in the states we're always hearing about how there's a gazillion barrels of oil in ANWR and there's no way to drill it because if the environmentalists. They say it's a pristine wilderness and all that. If they allowed drilling, what's next? THREE WHEELERS!

when i was a kid we had a kawi 110 and it was very stable paddling its way across the water. it would just chug along, lots of fun on that one.:TrikesOwn

My 200e bigred would float with my 200 lbs on it, just had to keep the engine rpm up.

That amazes me. It seems like everyone at 3WW who talked about floating their trike always floated it upside down. You guys are saying that you can stay on the trike and it will float?

yah, The rear tires will submerge, and you have to lean back a little to keep the balance right and the front tire and air intake above the water. Hold a steady throttle at about 2500 - 3000 rpm and they will cruise right through the stuff. Have to amke sure your electrical connections are greased and the pullstart and airbox is sealed good. The biggest issue is a steep embankment makes for a near impossible departure fromt he water as theres not enough weight to get good traction ont he bottom.

My yamaha has a snorkel air system. how do you guys feel about jumping trikes with no suspension, cuz i do it all the time. Did honda ever have any smaller two strokes like the the yamaha yts?

i hit one on my 200k and the landing hurt...gotta make sum sort of suspension

wow you think that honda would have, iv'e never ridin any honda trikes besides my 350x and i was woundering how a honda atc 125 would do compared to a yamaha ytm 125 with speed and power

The only Honda 2-smoke trike or quad is the 250R. I guess they could have put the CR125 motor in a trike or quad but they never did.

Imagine a 2 stroke suspension ATC125R, how cool would that be if Honda had one in its 1983 line up..................
