My buddy just got a great deal on a 200x. Good shape, supertrapp exhaust, k&n air filter, spidertrax tires for $500. It ran ok at first except no power, it kept bogging. He pulled the carb and cleaned it, and it has more power now. The problem is I think it still doesn't have enough power(compared to my 200x), and it backfires and shoots flames every time you let off to shift gears. I'm thinking it isn't jetted right for the exhaust and air filter, does this sound right.

it could be something to do with the air/fuel mixture screw perhaps? Try adjusting it maybe... I know when i lost one out of my old carb it back fired like hell then quit on me.

check the valve adjustment and timing before you change jetting.

My thoughts exactly.

sounds like a timing issue to me as well.
