I finally scored and got an 84 250r in good shape... one thing wrong with it... the piston detonated and the pieces are in the lower end, cylinder and head all in good shape ... just take out the pieces clean it up and shes ready to go...

nope. I cant take the motor out because I cant get the swingarm bolt out....

Any tips on gettin that out? I know the 200X well enough, but the 250r has that split end swing arm with inner and outer bearings and Im afraid the bolt seized to the bearings...

Any tips/tricks on getting that out - or getting the motor out without getting it out?

had to cut mine out with a saws-all - many others here have had to do the same. It is a pain - but it is the only way.

The only bit of advice I can give you is to get a large brass or lead hammer and try to knock it loose first but if the threads get screwed up you might as well start cutting. Another thing that you can use as a substitute for the above mentioned hammers would be an old sledgehammer handle used like a large punch and hitting it with a large hammer. If you are really lucky it might come loose. Good luck. I've even seen a couple old R frames cut in half from this very thing.

Once it is cut - it will come right out - normally it is the bearings that sieze to the axle bolt - once you cut the bolt and get the motor out - the bearings will slide right out of the swinger with the axle still stuck in.

Good luck to you.

If you're lucky it won't be seized in the engine.

mine were frozen also. i got about 2 cans of pb blaster from my work and soaked it for a couple of days. then hit it with a good size hammer.(lol) no seriously, i had to get my air hammer from work after the pb blaster and went to town. i got mine out and believe it or not they are all in good shape. !!!!!!!! i used a brass bit for the hammer end. worked great.

good luck!!!!!!!!!!
