My 90s been sitting awhile and then i gave it a tune up and then hit the start button and nothing. I thought, ok the batteries just dead. I try to jump start it and nothing. try a new battery and nothing. It dosent even turn over the engine. I remember it has some kind of saftey thing where you have to hold the brake to start and sometimes it would mees up but with a little moving of the handle it would work. Now its not working. What would mess up the electric starter after sitting for a couple months? what would make it not work??:w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

Put a test light to your starter solenoid lead and see if its getting voltage.

Since when does an ATC90 have electric start? This is the trike forum - So I assume you are talking about an ATC90.

He thinks it has electric start, someone just put a battery in the air box and a old disconnected starter button on the bars:naughty:

We need pics. Must be a super rare ATC 90 prototype only made for the people in Dallas.

common guys, some other makes may have made a 90 with electric start. your only thinkin honda. also you can buy aftermarket kits as well right?

if he says it's electric, then give him the benefit unless it's proven otehrwise. lets not run people off because of our own opinions. we dont' know everything.

batter coudl have gone bad, solenoid, bearings froze. take a small hammer and tap the start to see if she turns. when you try to start it.
if the lights are dim thent he battery coudl be bad.

It might be the solenoid because nothing happens when i press the start button.

give it a tap with a hammer on the starter that is NO JOKE it may spin the starter enough to get it going a few more times old mechanics trick! not kidding sometimes it works if you have a soft blow hammer is better then framing hammer just dont swing for the fences with the framing hammer!

First of all, my buddy and I refer to the hammer as the "Universal starter adjustment tool". Seriously. If you do have a starter on a 90, tap it while hitting the button. Might work, might not.

As for the guys giving grief over having electric start on a 90, no. The start button isn't on the handle bars. It's on the headlight. :D This is a 90, remember.

Lastly, as for what could make it go bad just sitting, if you aren't even getting an effort from the starter, I'd suspect mice eating the wires. Anything else and you should at least hear the bendix on that big 90 starter try to engage.

just had to come in here and comment. i have no idea what you have but how about checking the fuse? again i dont know what you working on but thats where i'd go first. if you try the hammer thing BE GENTLE!!! i have seen many starters that were "fixed with a hammer" and suprisingly my customers were shocked when i open them up and showed them the broken magnets.

What kind of machine is this? 90 what? Everyone assumes it's an ATC90.

Do you have pics, model, or anything? Can't be a ATC90, I've never seen one with electric start.

if its a china quad dont forget you have to have the brake on to start it.

Yeah... I second the "be gentle" sentiment. You're only trying to rattle the thing not break it. If the bushings are worn and binding up or there's gunk in it or something, a little tap to rattle it while it's trying to move is all you need.

Also, even if it does start, it isn't "fixed", only "diagnosed". If tapping on it gets it to start, you still need to rebuild your starter.
