Finally got my Big Red home this evening. The guy i bought it from said he thought it was an '85, which would make it a 250es, right? As you can see it's pretty rough, i have a lot of work ahead of me. Anyway i'm attempting to post some pics so bear with me if i don't get it right the first time....

I'd love to hear from the experts here as to what year it is, motor size, etc.

Looks like a great project to me. Mostly cosmetic, so doesnt look bad at all. I have built up a big red in worse shape. So enjoy the big red as they are the best trike out there.

Definately a 85 250ES. Maybe we can get together and tinker on it!

You might call it "rough" but I'd say it's better than that, good score for 100 smacks....

thats a nice deal, i have a guy by me thats selling the same year bigred, in worse condition, cosmetics are shot, rear rack is all bent up, tank all dented up, cut and cobbed wiring, and non matching tires on the back, and he wants 650 for it. lol, he told me the price he is asking and made clear that he was "firm about the price, these things are super rare and you wont find one in as good of condition as this one!" i chuckled, then laughed out loud so he could hear me, and turned around and walked away.

That 3 wheeler has $200.00 worth of tires on it. I have the same combination of tires on my 1985 Big Red 250 ES.

awesomescore but rear febders might bethe most expensive part you need to find and aseat cover can be made for under 10 bucks from some marine vinyl and as longas shr rins shes easily worth fixing up.

Anything thats nearly complete is worth 100 bucks, the best thing is to work on it a little at a time and ride it when you dont want to work on it. I found out at least with my build that it will keep you interested and be done in less time...

i knew a kid with one that looked just like that. he flipped it into a deep pond and left it there for a couple of days then got a truck and pulled it out and he started it right up and rode home. the next week the transmisson went out. those big reds are tough. I hope thats not the one that kid had because he sold it.

Thanks Devil, it may take a while before i know what i need but i may take you up on it....i'm going to see if i can find a thread about interchangeable parts on the two. I have a friend who has a compression tester i am borrowing so I'll see how that goes.....
