I have been working on this trike for the last 2 years and I am finally close to completion. This one is my pride and joy. :beer

I have been waiting to buy a new mikuni 34mm carb for it for a while and had the opportunity to borrow a stock unit from another tecate. It starts and runs but fouls plugs every 3 starts and cant keep it running - smokes up the neighborhood. Way too rich, so i am working on that now - the dreaded jetting detail.

Well since last post of this tecate a few updates were done. A newly rebuilt and powdercoated blue rear shock was installed - thanks to SBLT500R for rebuilding this one - it feels great...... The rear swinger was sanded and polished to a shiny finish. Other than that I spent a lot of time getting the motor lined up and tight with the appropriate bolts. I also installed a complete Bills exhaust i had stashed away. It sounds much better.

I also obtained a Tecate toolbox that i will be getting a custom billet mount for. The box cannot be mounted without the original grab bar.

Last Items Planned:

A few more items are needed. Plan on a big PRM desert grab bar to offset the large rear fenders. Mount the toolbox and purchase a new chain and blue rollers. Thats it and its done. I also think it needs a bolt kit for the engine - i keep the engine original but now i want more bling....Oh and it needs new rims and tires of course but i will keep these for a complete original set. Most likey will be putting duro H245s on there for a race look.

I want to run it a little bit and then will be put away in storage with my ATC250R. Next is the 85 Tri-z needs a fitted topend and it will be complete as well. Last is the 87 200x which needs some sand blasting on the cylinder and a topend installed. Then my collection is complete - no more trikes for me......... we'll see.:)

Here's some pics. Enjoy....

Plan is to have a mint ATC250R, TRI-Z and TECATE. My personal starting lineup. Each one needs like 200 in parts to finalize the restore.

I have a 250r and 350x for daily riding to beat on. That keeps me from riding this one.

Man that thing looks great. I have a Tri-z and a 250R, so my next project will be a Tecate.:w00t:

Finally fixed the carb issue. Doesnt leak anymore and almost got it idling. Put 35 pilot and 280 main. Might need more but it smokes nicely. Video doesnt pick up the raspy sound too much....

I've been waiting 2 years for this moment to start it up. I got my crappy tank on there right now. One of these days i will get my own PB account, too.

I just got to see how fast it goes first.... Then I will break down the rear end and roll it down the bulkhead into hiding.:)
