Here are some more pics of it being taken apart and cleaned/inspected. It runs strong and everything is there and is in good shape. :p It needs rear break pads. May need a new clutch soon too. :( I got it for $500. :p Oh and the grab bar needs to be replaced.

Cleaned the red plastic shrouds, and cover. I wet sanded out the sun faded top of the head light cover. I went from 220, 320, 400, 600, 1000, and then ended with 2000 grit sandpaper. I have not buffed it yet but here is what it looks like after 2000 grit. Also took off all the rubber grommets and cleaned them then put armor all on them. They had a little bit of silver over spray, but it came right off with soap and water.

Nice score for $500. You got this off of a guy on craigslist correct? The same guy had others for sale correct? This was the one i was looking at too (the cheapest one out of the bunch).
Good luck with the Z!!
And welcome to the site!!

I do not know what kind of shock that is...it has no reservoir.

Thanks tri-Z ripper. I know I need foot pegs bad, still researching this site for fixing them. My threads are stripped. I was thinking of welding the base plate of the stock foot peg to my frame, or drilling out my frame and welding in a couple of nuts. Either way I have to figure something out before I get it powder coated. Any suggestions or pointers would be welcome here.
I just got an electric oven and I am wiring it up in my garage so I will just powder coat all the parts like the headlight guard.
As for the pipe. It is a DG of course, not the chrome or nickel plated one. I need to know how or if I can restore it to give it that look of a natural tan-ish/ gold look like when you spray wd-40 on it. Should I wire wheel all the crude off of it then start using the wd-40? Is it too late for that? Should I just sand blast it and paint it with VHT? Any help here would help.
Nice score for $500.
oh yeah sorry nice find for 500$
nice find for $500.
Thanks. Check craigslist for a $800 dollar 85 250r in north jersey right now. He let it sit for a year and can't get it running. I think it just has a dirty carb. He has a bunch of extra goodies too like an extended swinger, powdercoated frame, and more. The plastics are shot and tank is faded, but it might be a steal regardless. I would have it already but I do not have room for another rebuild right now. Hop on it before its gone.
More pics to my restore coming soon.

Nice bike for the money for sure I got mine for $1200 and before I rode it once I put another $400 into it, just in stuff that hadnt been done that should have been. But you never know what your getting so I try look for the cheap ones that way you do all the work and know whats been done and what needs to be done, which is everything most of the time.:)
