What oil should i run in my 200x if it smokes pretty bad and I cant change the rings right now. What the heaviest oil I can use in it that would make it smoke less and burn less of it?

No oils wil make it smoke less or burn less. If the engine is tired, the engine is tired.

Wouldnt a thicker oil be harder to seap pass the rings?

No not really, once it is in the cylinder it is just going to burn off anyway. If your engine is smoking, the rings or seals or rings and seals are probably shot. Also, when you get the head and the cylinder off, you may want to have someone check the cylinder with a micrometer and make sure the cylinder is still round. If the cylinder has uneven wear, you will probably have to have the cylinder bored out for the next size up piston. You might want to have your cylinder head checked out to to make sure the valves are sealing properly and wether or not that you need new seals for the head.

why can't you change the rings right now? it's like 15 bucks...

walk through your house and find something that you never use, put that on ebay...sell it...then buy a new set of rings, hell, sell a few things and have it honed and bored while you're at it.

what oil are you running now?

im using 10w-40. Ill eventually get new rings. I was gonna do it soon then realized i have to take the whole engine off the frame to do that. Thats a pain to do.

I think the thickest you can buy is 80w140 gear oil, maybe if you mix a couple of teaspoons of grease with it you can make a real thick viscosity. I doubt the oil pump would pump it and would probably end up destroying the motor. I always use 20w50 in anything aircooled because tempatures reached are much higher than your typical liquid cooled automotive engines. I live in florida and let my engines warm up for a few minutes before I ride so cold start thick oil is not really a concern for me. Let a quart of 20w50 sit in the sun for 20 minutes and its very thin like water. I recomend 20w50 in anything air cooled in Flroida.

there's no oil that can fix wore out rings- despite some wonder additive adds that is

try using that engine restorer stuff that you mix with the oil. it works pretty well. it didn't remove all the blue smoke but it cut it down a lot

isnt that bad for the clutch though? I heard somewhere not to use that in wet clutches.

how is the engine hard to take out...

I'm a complete idiot with damned near zero mechanical skills, I can have the engine out in under 15 minutes... 6 bolts or less.

I never said it was hard, but I just dont feel like taking it out. It might never go back in.
