ok i have been doing alot of searching here to find what carb would swap on to my 84 250r. i will be doing mostly trail and play riding at this point, some track or ice racing (hopefully) i would just like to get the most out of my R in the basically stock form, with the option of rejetting for future mods.

i have a couple of different choices as of right now.
1) blaster 34mm carb (i think flat slide)
2) trx250 carb i think it is a 36mm (flat slide)
3) 85-86 atc 250r carb (pj keihin)

my 250r is basically stock at this point. piston is 70 over stock, pipe will be done here in the next couple of months with silencer (but is stock at this point). k and n filter in air box. 1 up front sprocket (also have stock 13 tooth) also if you guys could tell me what i would have to do to make them fit on my R (intake boot- from what, etc.)

i haven't seen any of these carbs yet, but i found out my friend has a stock of carbs in his garage off of many different quads bikes atc etc.

thanks,

Well, you'll most likely have to rejet any new carb your swapping over. I've got a spare '85 25oR carb I need to put on one of these days, it's the 34mm roundslide. I'm going to try and boil my stock intake and stretch it over the bigger carb first. If that doesn't work, I think you can make an oddysey 350 boot work with a couple mods, not sure though.

I know for a fact that the stock 85~86 PJ carb really wakes up the mostly stock 83~84 motors.

or if u search on ebay and all the planets align u might just find a DG or Rocky Cycles intake which is made to run a mukuni 36mm TM or "flatslide" carb which is what i run its amazing no more bogging or anything like that its almost as responsive a a 125 dirt bike but mine isnt stock

Whats the biggest carb you have seen run on these engines? I have a 39 mm keihen flatslide and a 34 roundslide. The 350 odyssey intake manifold is 34mm stock size, but I have made a 39 fit in them as well.
