I just picked up this yt125 from VealMonkey, & boy does he go through a trike!
Many NOS & new parts including clutches & steels, kill switch, NOS "out of the box" front carrier, w/ headlight guard, Bassani pipe, NOS carb, rear disc, headlight & tail light(he even went as far as getting the gasket for the rear light, very nice!), YT175 front end, & eventually(when I come up w/ the $$)a... ................PRO TEC rear suspension kit!!!!:w00t::lock: :lock: :lock:
This trike runs like new, it's very, very responsive, I was really shocked at this trike's performance. Granted, it's no Z, or R, but it's pretty quick for what it is.
Also I've got a 175 frame to accept the Pro Tec rear and I have a complete 175 top end w/ Boyesen power reeds(on the way).
The only problem, other then the tires(they're just too nice to get dirty:lol: ) is the shift linkage- It's got one link from the pedal to a center triangle piece, then there's a second link that connects to the shifter, which is about 2-3 inches long, & there's a good amount of play in the 2 links. I did my best to adjust them, but 2 nuts are rounded off, so I spoze I'll find 'em on Evilbay.
So here's a few pics, I hope they load............................

A couple more- The original pegs were rubber, I'm not sure where these came from, but they're cool! Als a shot of the pipe, & the weird shift linkage.

Nothing from the 175 is on it now, but eventually I'm switchinf frames, the 175 will accept the (very expensive) pro tec rear.

Hopefully it will also accept the not as expensive knock-off kit. :D

Do you already have a line on a pro tec or are you just hoping to find one?

Oh, switching from a 125 to a 175 frame will create a problem with the exhaust. I remember someone (I think it was trikeaholic) saying that the 125 and 175 exhaust mounts differently. I’m not sure if it is just a different bracket or what.

A member here has one he's willing to sell($$$), so I'll eventually get it when I'm a little richer. So there were other suspension kits for the 175? I never heard of anything BUT Pro Tec as far as suspension kits go?
Also about the frame swap, I've got a complete 175 motor w/ a pretty nice top end I'm going attempt mounting on the 125 bottom end(going to freshen it up 1st), a few folks have told me it will work, I hope it does. From there, I need to find or have made an expansion chamber for the 175 set up.

Oh the days of balloon tires and body flopping off of jump landings - i will never go back........ :wondering

Whats up Gazoo? - i thought you gave up on us when the 350x sailed.

Nice rig - shine up those plastics and some yami stickers would set that trike right. The 84s had nice blue sticks if they are still available?

Nice upgrades for sure. I grew up on a yt125 and remember dreaming of getting those mods, so i could race the modded class. Never happened and stayed stock. Ran that trike for 8 years and never wrenched it once other than sprockets and brakes. I got some old pics somewhere.

Yeah you just need a rear susp system and some flat tracks and that would have a real old school racer style.:beer

Tanx for the comments 'Cuda. The Achilles accident really REALLY messed my foot up, stuff doesn't heal up so quick when your older, I actually did some riding for the first time since december up at Brapp's, had a blast. I like that he's always got ten or so running machines to ride.
Yeah I plan on getting tires for the 125, I just discovered last night that the 175 top end is 6 bolt & the 125 is 4 bolt, that kind of blows, now I'm going to have to tear into the 175(I think the crank bearings are locked, hopefully it wont be a total disaster). I'm looking for a shift linkage for the('80) 125, BTW. if you know of anyone let me know, Brian.

The 125 and 175 still swap but you have to change over both the cylinder and head, it is just the head on the 175 that is 6 bolt.
