When I put my 200x in gear when the bike is off (not running) the wheels should lock up but mine do not, they move as if in nuetral. Any ideas why its doing this? Does it need new clutch?

It is either the clutch, the transmission or lack of compression. You did have the spark plug in when you tried this? The chain is on? The front sprocket isn't stripped on the splines? Clutch isn't stuck in the disengaged position? You were in a low gear when you tried this?
If you answered: yes, yes, no, no, and yes, then it is probably time to overhaul the clutch.

yeah it has good compression, plug was in, clutch was engaged. HOw much does it cost to overhaul and is it very hard to do? DO I have to open up the whole case or just side clutch cover? Help please.

When you say overhaul, do you mean replacing the clutch plates?

Would it not engage the wheels if the clutch is out? When my clutch went out on my blaster it was the opposite. The clutch wouldnt disengage and it would always lock the wheels. The transmission clicks into gear so i hope its not that.

If the clutch plates or basket are worn beyond a certain point, the clutch will just slip. If you can shift the trans through all the gears, that is a good sign that the trans is OK.

yeah it shifts thru all the gears fine. So its the clutch plates then? Thats good. Not too expensive.

If it hasn't ran in along time the plates are prolly dry and/or rotten. Get it running first and see if it'll move. Can you even feel the resistance when trying to push it while in gear?

Yeah you can fell VERY little resistance. Should I take them out and clean them or something?I think it has been sitting for awhile.

make sure the linkage isn't binding at the left case. if not, remove the cover and see if the plates are still intact and nothings binding.

Is there a way to repair the clutch without buying new ones?

WOuld it not engage because its a wet clutch and there no oil in the engine? Dont worry, im not trying to run it with no oil.

Sounds like the clutch is junk. Go buy a 1$ Walmart quart of oil and give it a try. You seem worried about a dollar?

If it's sat around a long time, it's gonna take allot of dollars to get it up and running again, you also have an ignition problem I gather from your posts.

One thing you guys gotta realize is that 23YO machines are not gonna be cheap and easy to get running well. Honda's are famous for sitting forever and still running great, but thats not always the case.

In this ancient ATC world of ours, these trikes are not an inexpensive hobby in the least.

Sounds like the clutchs are sticking. Try pulling the clutch lever about 100times and see what happens, if not then replace it.

Ok, ill try that. Also, could it be the clutch springs? Is it very hard to open up the case where the clutch is?

Shouldn't be to difficult, undo the cable from the case, kicker, and remove all of the bolts and it should come of without to much forceing. Do you have a manual?
