I just recently purchased an 86 350X and the rear brake caliper makes a clicking noise when moving at very slow speeds is this normal. I had brother ride around yard and watched the caliper is moving back and forth. Not to sound dumb but is this normal operation of this caliper??? I thought it should be bolted in one spot...The brakes make no noise once moving and they do stop trike.
Thanks
Please Help!!!![/b]
It sounds like the rotor is bent.

But is it normal for caliper to be able to move back and forth???
Thanks
Ziggs
Yes, the caliper should move freely side to side as it has to compensate for pad wear. Usually on these old machines, there is also some back and forth movement from worn caliper bracket bushings. I have the same problem and it appears as if the bushings are discontinued. Anyone have a source for these?

'85 and '86 rear brake set ups are totally different, I just recieved my '86 bushing and clip a month ago. I was told about a year ago that they were discontinued. I tried ordering it from a local shop, who goes through Honda. He said he couldn't get them. Then I started rebuilding my motor a month or so ago and needed some parts so I figured I'd order it and it came, I was suprisded.

I think i may be missing this bushing and spring you are talking about. But i will need to find picture or diagram of these pieces installed.
Thanks

'85 350x rear brakes. The black bar does the same job as the bushing on a '86.

'86 350x rear brakes. Here you can see the gold colored bushing that I recently bought.

'86 350x rear brakes different angle. you'll notice in this pic the parking brake cable and the bolt for the cable are missing. You can also see the rubber around the allen bolt. The rubber boot is ripped so that is also wrong. Its supposed to be tucked in behind the head of the bolt.

Wow those are excellent pics!!!!
I think that the new gold bushing you bought in picture is just what I need. Where did you get and would you have part number? What acctually holds bushing in place? I think tommorow I will take picture of mine to just to show you if Im right.
Thanks for the help

Thanks for the complement. You want to restore them for me?
My camera takes such good pictures it makes everything look like trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro up close.
Do they still look like they need to be restored in these pics? (besides the one with no motor)

Ziggs, if you look at your picture were the brake caliper mounting bracket slides on the swingarm there is a piece missing it is a round coller with 2 flat sides. it is held in by a circlip. after you get that piece on then if it still moves back and forth your rotor may be bent. but get that coller first it is important

250r's(86 atc & quads) have a similar bushing, I would try one of them if you can't get the one for a 350x. I know the 250r ones aren't discontinued.
