I just removed the carb from my 83 project (just got a motor for it) but went to start it, and it rev out to the max . I have constantly removed the cap off the top of the carb and moved the slide and needle back in to its right postion but i guess it moves or slips out on its own. I have been trying it for like 2 hours. Is the carb slide the only possible answer to this? Cuz i Got it once, but moved the throttle limiter a little and then the entire slide moved again . So now the cap is off and waiting for someone to help me. You can even call me at 520.838.4154 Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

wow!! you posted on .ORG at 3:30 you were still looking for a motor,,,,, now at 6:30 you have a new motor in and ready to start>? wow you sure work fast,,, the slide will only go in one way,,, and if the cap is tight it will not move around,, unless the pin in the side of the carb is broken or wore off,,,,,,

Well, i had an extra motor but it smokes bad and will soon need piston and rings. So i was looking for a better motor. But this is my cousins account, he left it logged in on my computer lol so i kinda used it to my advantage. But yeah it looks good.

It's hard to understand what you're saying. You get the carb together, and the slide sticks at the top of the carb when you push the throttle?
Is the spring in there to push the slide back down? Have you cleaned the slide and carb good so that the slide moves freely up and down?

yes spent alot of time cleaning the carb. Its just when i stick the slide back in, get it to drop down the slot where the needle goes, tighten up the cap and start it. It REVS to full RPM and i dont touch the throttle. It seems like its sticking. But i have no idea

O, you have the slide in wrong. The slide should drop to the bottom of the tube that it's in, and should fit over the idle adjustment screw with the tapered side pointed toward the airbox side of the carb. There is a cut out part of the slide that goes over the idle screw.

ya thats how i have it. I figured it out. But i found the main problem. I have an air leak. While it was running i sprayed carb cleaner on the intake and it rapidly decreased in rpms
