My new to me 1984 200s makes a cracking sound when I turn the front wheel from side to side. Could this be a bearing issue in the handle bars?
Other than that its a beast!!!
Thanks

I would deffinately say that it is a bearring issue, either that or there is a lot of dirt in there,, take it apart and do some investigating.. best I can tell ya

Either the stem bearing or bad front wheel bearings will make a cracking sound. I'd tip the bike up on the wheelie bar (turn the gas off first) and listen to the steering stem while you turn the wheel back and forth. If you dont hear anything grab the front wheel and try to twist or move it side to side. If the wheel/hub moves side to side the bearings are probably bad. there shouldnt be any play
