I just bought a 39 pwk carb with the sprock billet intake and v-force reed set-up, but haven't installed it yet. So, I can't tell you what the performance is like, but hear that it's excellent.

the D slides in the PWKs give better throttle response. I have a 40.5mm pwm on my Z

I only have a Keihin PJ34 on my Z (recicled stock R carb) and it's exellent, a lot better than the stock 32mm Z carb. The trail R uses a PJ36 and the bottom and mid are like no other. My drag R uses a 39mm Dellorto, but it's not a runner yet.
It all depends on how you use your bike. For trails and all around I don't like too big of a carb. They need to be set-up properly, don't matter what carb you use, spend some time setting it-up. You'll be surpised as to what a properly set-up carb will do an a bike.
Hope this helps.
