looking for info 81 250R

ok people please help me i got an 81 250R ($350) runs good plastic is ok. love the thing except the rear suspen. is there a way to give it more travel ? i have back problems and need a little softer ride . i found a 84 250R ($650) picking it up in july and like the way it rides but i told the old lady she could have that one so i am stuck .

If you install a longer swing arm, it will give you a softer ride and a bit more suspension travel.

will the suspension off a newer 250R bolt in place or will it be fab new stuff?

They like to over heat.

As far as i know, swingers off newer 250Rs will not work with the 81. The 81 has a drum brake and all the rest have disk brakes. Also, the chain is on the kicker side of the '81 engine, and all the rest are on the shifter side of the engine.

Someone, please correct me if i am wrong.

up to 84 the chain is on the kick side

if the brake is all i have to fab thats not to bad i think
