250r gearing for open trails 40 tooth?

What gearing are you guys running on open trails? 14 39? I just found some 40 tooth sprockets on ebay- thought 39 was the biggest. Anyone tried the 40?

I used 14/38 for open trails, even then, it was getting high in the gears. 14/39 would be the lowest I would go. I like 14/39 for trails, enough top end and its easy for a well tuned bike to pull.

The smaller the rear sprocket in teeth count the faster the speed.

38 rear would be faster then a 40 rear for example.
