What exactly is the difference in the 85 vs 86 350x rear end (swinger, brakes, bearings etc.) I have a 1986 350x and was wanting to remove the 1985 swinger and replace with the correct 86 swinger, carrier, brakes etc. What exactly do I need? Is the axle and bearings the same? It looks like the brake mounts differently so will a 86 brake caliper bolt to a 85 swingarm? What parts would be needed to make a 85 rear end into a 86 rear end? Any pics would be great so I could compare them to what I have on the 85 swinger.

Both have completely different brake calipers/mounts. The sprocket hub is different as are the sprockets, carriers are different. So i guess the interchangeable parts are the rotor/hub, wheel hubs, fade nut, axle nuts and spacers. If you want an 86 rear you need nearly everything to make it right.

Do a search or look at the last post for this same question and you'll get a few more details, but aside from the color of the plastics the swinger/rear end is the biggest change from 85 to 86...
