350x engine case removal

How do I remove the engine case sides? (Other than with wrenches).... I need to now about oil draining, wires, lines, etc. Will the stator side come off without draining oil, etc....?? Reason being I would like to paint the engine case sides for improved appearance.

Both sides you must drain oil. Pulling the covers off isnt hard, There are no springs that are going to go flying or anything, This isnt a clock. Look at it, If it looks like it needs to be removed it probably does.
