View Full Version : Anyone bought a raisable stand for their trike?

I have been toying with the idea of getting a stand for my trike. Basically, so I can lift it and roll it around the shop while a wheel or the rear axle is off. I have been leaning towards the kind that lifts from the skid plate/peg area as opposed the kind you just ride up onto (lifting platforms).
Does anyone here have such a lift or any info on them? Howdy and the other pro-resto-boys, surely you guys have a couple...
Thanks!

I don't think you're supposed move any of those stands whilst you've got a bike on, just make your own with good wheels off an old store cart and it doesn't have to go up and down just have a ramp up to it for the front wheels then it drops over the other side and the ramp will pull out when the trike is sat on its sup on the stand, get it?
The prob with having wheels is it will move whilst you are trying to work on it like pulling off a back wheel or undoing a tight nut.

THATS what I'm looking for. Don't wanna build one cause if I like the one I get, then I am going to get one as a gift for my neighbor.

What's the cost of the Sears lifter?
We have a mobile tool sale truck that will stop and set up in a roller rink or an armory, or a what ever(a big open place). I think I have been to Chuck Homier Tools and Cummings Tools. I was able to buy the same lift as the sears one for $65 out the door. I love it, sometimes I put the T3 up on my trailor and then use the lift to get it higher.

I have to chime in and say that I did my entire restoration with my trike on an upside down plastic milk crate. Worked great, and was only as expensive as swiping it from behind a gas station about 4 years ago.

LOL, when i sripped the 110 down to paint it I hung the front end from the roof in the garage with rope and had the back axle on stands.

I've got an old 3 wheeling mag that has detailed plans for building a rolling ATV work stand.
I use a water cooler bottle crate. they work great. I also have a small steel drum, not sure how many gallons it is but it works great too.
. <------Thats the point
* <----- here is half of you guys.
Some people don't have to be cheap about everything. A lift makes working on a trike much more enjoyable for your back, and much easier to deal with. My Big Red is on a tire right now and it is a PITA to move around and deal with.

Exactly. I am looking for a stand that not only provides lift, but can be rolled out of the way when I get interupted or run out of time that day. Price is no object, and like I said before, if I like it I may gift one to my neighbor and I seriously doubt a wheel and a 2x6 will convey my thanks to him for helping me with my boat last week.

Personally I like the air operated lifts where you can just drive them (Or push them) up on there. The entire 500X project has been done on the shop table and on the floor though, I don't have a lift. I did use the engine hoist a few times when painting things so that I could have it in my face where I could see what I was doing. Otherwise the trike/quad/bike stays on the floor and I sit on a creeper or a 5 gallon bucket.

@chem=EXCUSE ME, KING MIDAS!! Maybe you should take all that cake and build bigger garage (provided you own your own home), you won't have to move squat! Could put in 2 or 3 built in hyd. lifts for all your projects>>>> LMFAO>>>>>>btw, if you'll note I quoted Joel so was actually replying to his reply. Was not insinuating you give my stand as a gift. :? http://www.metzelfeste.de/images/Smilies/smiley024.gif :-P
@lame=actually sir?, don't have to be cheap.....just prefer to be! STILL LMFAO>>>>my point>>>>> http://www.metzelfeste.de/images/Smilies/smiley024.gif

jeez, this is turning into a flame war. chemical didn't ask the tightwads what they jerry rigged up to work on their trike. he asked who had a specific lift and where he can get info on it so he can have one and give one as a gift. lay off, some of you are starting to get out of line.

I am also interested in the Sears lift. Canadian tire also has one out now :-D
My question is, if the rear end of a big red were to be removed would the front end tip down or would the front wheel have to be removed to balance it? :?
