What do you buy when you change your bike plastic?

I have a 250R 1985 restore project, and i need to put new fender on it....and i have 2 choice...OEM or MAIER...

MAIER....half the price than OEM...the look of MAIER are like the OEM or there is a big difference?

what do you do when it's time to change your plastic, OEM or MAEIR? and why?

OEM fit and finish are superior. They also match a stock refinished fuel tank, Maier is a deeper red. Maier also has crappy lines unlike the sleek look of stock.

If you run red Maier you better get a black tank or IMHO I think it looks crappy.

OEM is allot more $$ and I guess it depends how much you ride. I destroyed an OEM 350X fender and could care less. I l.ike my stuff to look nice, but it has to function and perform 1st.

I have black Maier plastic on my R and it looks good..then again my bike isn't a garage queen. Some people like the OEM look others don't... its up to what you like..

If you want to spend 400 bucks on OEM and let it set in the garage becuase you are afraid to scuff them,Then that is what you want.

If you plan On riding then go With Maier. They do Not quite fit to factory specs, but for a rider, they are the way to go.IMO.

Here is a pic of aftermarket stuff on mine.I dont worry about scuffing them up.

The first pic is all OEM EXCEPT the front fender.I think they match pretty decent.

The second pic Has All Maier, except the fuel tank.

Here's what i did on my rider. For a nice looking rider, i went with maier front and rear, HL as well, and a set of oem tank shrouds. The shrouds are what makes the color differance noticeable at the tank and the lines are light years ahead of the maier ones. I have crashed my R numerous times and those aftermarket fenders just dont crack...

That combo makes the R look sharp on the trails and you dont mind busting them up when riding. Get a new set of stickers - you be stylin.

OEM all the way for show trikes - they crack easier if ridden though and honda's are pricey.

like it's been said go with maier if you are gonna ride it. OEM if you plan on a museum piece, or maybe two sets? one to ride and the other to look pretty

New OEM is very brittle. It will not survive being ridden hard. No way. I put some new OEM shrouds on my R and they cracked after one ride without even being wrecked. Maier might not fit or look as good but it's a hundred times more durable.
