SuZuKi LT80 performance and suspension

I will be picking up a few part quads this friday and one is a complete lt80, Ive looked around and there is quite a bit of performance stuff for them, but what about things like extended arms and such. Also what kind of problems do they have and is it worth fixing one up for my daughter to upgrade to from her trx 70?

The lt 80 is a very good bike...if you want to extend the front arms i went with jl atv ( i believe thats what it is ) kit. if you want more power take the head to your machinist and have him shave .010" off of it and take 2 of the front rollers out of the variator and lighten the rear clutch to shoes to 180 grams each. If the bike is early model the exhaust on it from what i have heard is very good. If you want to upgrade go with a ct pipe. The fmf, dg, and such are just mainly a louder stock pipe. Get a set of fiber glass reeds for it also, if the stock ones are in it they are more then likely cracked as the are metal. My sons had these mods and for shade tree mechanic mods they made a world of difference. Check out atvriders.com and go to the mimi section. A buddy has a LT80 for his daughter. He unplugged the exhaust governer for us to compare it to my atc70. No comparision. I'm 210, and could powerslide it on gravel and do donuts, hehe. With the exhaust plug in, it's very tame for the youngin's. Super easy operation, only 1 gear all the time. I've never had a trx70, but would say that the LT would be a good step up, if he needs more speed and suspension. Tons of aftermarket parts too.

I really hate to get rid of the trx, its been a wounderfull machine, but she really needs suspension, the trx would be the best miniquad on the plannet if it has suspension, but alas it dosnt. Ive been loooking at performance parts for the lt80, for like $350 I can get a pipe/reeds/uni filter/jets/ and new gear chain set, also thinking about it becouse I looked how the A arm is built and it would be very easy to extend myself to make it wider, and durablue makes an extended axle for it as well, plus pink plastic is avail for it!! my daughter would love that!

I would like to have a TRX if you get rid of it, but the gas prices kinda slam the door on that.

Sounds like a plan on the mods you are doing there. Just remember that on a cvt transmission like that, the power isn't going to get to the wheels without doing mods to the clutch also. If your not wanting the power at least service the front variator on it, that is the main problem with a power loss on these bikes..Chris

We have owned 2, down to my daughters now. As far as I'm concerend it is the best youth quad out for bigginers. It is one of the only ones that has a foot operated brake, that is MUST for small kids.

My boys was modded some but not near as much as okies and both ran great. I would take out 2 rollers imediatly.

Keep the front clutch lubed! If she starts racing it in a short track environment, you can loose 3 of the forward rollers... it will launch like no one would imagine :D Nuke the oil injection. We ran a 92.5 mj with Motul 800 mixed at 50:1.

Team +3" axle, durablue spacers up front, ac nerfs, works shock on the front and rear. We still ran the stock pipe. The best all around for no cash :D Jack Moore is a great LT 80 engine builder and he said they will allow the 80's to spin 13K, no problem. He is on ATV riders and posts under the name LT80. He has had LT80 do over 60 MPH on the TT tracks back there...... insane :D Keep a soft sidewall tire on it like the Nanco N-700 like in my photos, if you go too stiff, stuff will break on big leaps, even with the works shocks.
