lowering 200x forks...torque specs??

i have a 200x front end on my 200e, with the increased hight and rake plus lighter tire it does not want to turn very well. also i don't think I care for the chopper feel that much. currently the top of fork tubes are pretty even with top clamp. if you guys think lowering will help what is the best way to go about it ( when i put them on I left the tire on and it seemed like it was harder than it should have been but I don't have any prior exp. to this ) and how do I know how far I can lower them? Thanks for all the help.

It'll be a lot easier if you remove the tire then move each fork seperately. Just loosen the clamps and twist while you push them up.
Moving them up in the tripples a couple inches won't hurt anything.

how do i find out what the travel is on my x?

Take off the fork boot, put a zip tie around the fork leg above the dust seal and go for a ride. That will give you the actual travel that is got from your riding style.

Thanks for the help guys! today I got the front end lowered and yea it was alot easier to deal with once I took the tire off lol. I did not see torque specs in my Clymer book for the clamp/fork bolts on the 200x. Anyone know what to torque them to or should I just tighten them real good?....

for that 8mm fastener / bolt you want to use 19-26 lb/ft

Not sure what 8mm you mean? I have specs for the 17mm front axle and the 10mm axle holder nuts. But I don't know what the specs are for the 12mm bolts that go through the triple clamps that the forks go through.

The bolt head is 12mm the actual bolt itself is 8mm :) I'd say around 20-22lbs if you wanted to actually torque them down.

Thanks for clearing that Billy I was thinking he meant the head of the bolt. I wasn't sure if it was needed but with the clamps being aluminum I didn't want to strip it out by tightening it to much.
