Well I sold my Tecate a long time ago, because it was just a big heap. There was almost enough to build 2 tecates. I had a 84 and a 85. Bought it back years ago now and many parts were missing. The fame the rear axel, ect. Well Yesterday I went with my friend to try to sell his fathers boat, when a car pulled up. It was a friend of my buddys and in his passanger seat was one of the owners of the tecate, after I sold it. I have had adds on kijiji.ca and he said "are you the one looking for tecate parts. Right then I knew who he was. After all this time, price of steel way up and it never left for the scrap yard.

On another note I found a 1983 kdx 250 on kijiji.ca too. Dosent want much for it. I might build a air cooled Tecate. My 84 forks are bent really bad"not from me" They came that way. And found a straight set from my same friend who helped me find the frame. I would like to make a 500 but kx 500 engines are hard to come by. Harder then tecates.
Let me know what I should do.

Sounds like you've already got a good plan. Shoehorn that KDX motor in there and start riding.;)

Well the kdx I have never seen. I do not know if it will need parts. I would like to see it to see how much fab it will take. All the mod trikes are going into the future. I would like to build a "might have been trike. Since the 84-85 almost look the same I want to change that.
Also I have another project to get at. Here is a pic of what my trikes have looked like in the past 2 months

Well last night The guy dropped off the frame. Got it for 50$
It is an 84 model and did not come with the missing mukuni carb nor the rear axel. Im glad that I painted it when I did. It has been sitting in the woods all this time.

It has a few problems like the rear brake mount was ripped off, the wheel bar mount was broke right off and re welded.

The 84 frame has better foot pegs too. Alot easier to get the mud and crap out from the inside of the peg mounts.
Any ideas on what color to paint it?

Ouch, 50?

I'd worry about replacing the grab bar mounts and fixing the brake mount/hole before paint.

Well Im not sure what Im doing as of yet. I did clean the frame up today and put an old can of green paint on it. The frame even has the piece that Im missing. The bar above where the uni link mount is.
Hey BGM how many racers are there in Newfound land?

One of buddys her in NL had a 84 250r but blew the motor. He sold it and now i don't know where it is. Hey Biggreenmachine, it seems like a racing trike here in nl is very rare isnt it?

Certainly not plentiful. You have to look hard for what you want and be prepared to pay a lot for a beat trike. Its sad but true.

Well I cleaned up the old blue paint so it can be painted.:wondering
I figured that I will be putting a few coats on it.:naughty:
So I used up a half a can of paint on it. I even was able to take apart the uni link assembly.
My other one was siezed on ther but was able to remove the link from the frame. Im going with blue and green for my possible 1983 KXT 250.:Bounce
No not a type O. I might go back in time and make "want possibley started it all" tecate 3 wheeler. :D I might even get another drum brake for the rear. Well here is the green frame.

Well I do not know if I should be mad or glad. Found out more on the other Tecate located here. Turns out the guy he got it off, removed the original motor  and instaled a HONDA 4 STROKE engine.   But he claims the frame and everything else is mint. He was asking 500$ for the machine befor he found out about the motor. So now I might get almost the parts I need for less.:wondering

Well that other frame is in bad shape. Have not seen it in person but, well the pics say it all. Someone should drive it over with a steam roller.
I still might pic it up if the price is right. How much do you think it is worth?

The Franks aftermarket swingarm and extended axle would be the only reason I'd buy that. (ONLY if they are unmolested) What a bloody waste!!

Yeah I know. I was looking at the swinger closely and it didnt look like a stock one. But well ALOT of the bike does not look stock.
