'84 250R Throttle broke!

I am still trying to get these two back together, '84 is a bad year for parts. I discovered my thumb throttle on the 250R is broken, the plate the cable connects to is cracked and the square drive spins inside of it (found out it is common), so I checked on EBay and found a few, but when I asked if they were cracked and broken, most were.
My Question is will a 350X thumb throttle fit or what other models can I look for?
Really don't want a twist throttle, unless I have to.

are you referring to the entire throttle assembly? (black box 3 screws on top, houses the thumb lever and has a hole where the cable goes in? if so, you don't have to get a model specific one. all of the new ones for the 450r's and 400ex's use the same type of set up. i have a brand new one coming for my 83 250r. it is from a new 450r. you can find em new in the box on ebay for like $55

I saw the EBay auction for that throttle, he doesn't mention the 83-84 250R. Do you know if the throttle cable adjuster will screw in or does that have to be modified?

basicly you can use any throttle you like as long as you use the cabe made for that throttle ( if its different)

i only use suzuki 250 quad racer throtles since thats what i like and the q-racer cable works on any carb

and unlike most honda throttles it will open a 42mm carb with no mods

not to dig up a dead thread...but will a 350x thottle open a 42mm carb completely?

No, but a 85+ trx or atc throttle definately opens up a 39mm. I run them on all of my big carb trikes.

here's another question...when holding the carb in your hand...and you press the throttle, the carb does seem to open up...i'm using the 450r cable.

the throttle only moves about an inch.
