Weak stator??? 250R Guys, I need your advice!!!

Guys, I just put a new set of rings and honed the cylinder on my 86' ATC250R. I went to start it and she won't fire. It attempts to run when I kick it over really hard but other than that it won't do anything. I pulled the plug and I dont have spark if I crank the kick starter over by hand but it gets spark when kicked over hard. The spark is there but it isn't a real briallant blue color. I did get one back fire out of it as well, but nothing else. Any ideas? Can I test the stator? Im a bit confused here.

You try a new plug? for starters.

Yes, I put in a new plug for the first start up and then tried another new one after I had no luck starting it.

I found the problem!!! The two wires on the coil were loose, made all the difference! Can't wait to ride it now, what a difference the new rings have made!
