I just got a 85 200x, when I got it the guy started it first kick and when I got home it was very hard to start. I used carb cleaner to get it going. What could be the problem?

If the gas was left on when you transported it home, it could have flooded itself. See if it starts better when it has sat for a while with the fuel off, then turn the gas on and see how it starts.

And, welcome to 3WW!

depending on how long its been sitting you should give it a good car cleaning and go from there. also manke sure that your rubber intake manifold isnt rotted or cracked.

low compression engines start very hard cold (unless you use starting fliud) its possible the guy you got it from had it primed with fluid or had already run the bike before you got there. hope this isnt the case though

I'll second the vote on low compression.

They'll start and run fine by pop starting but kicking them with 120PSI and under doesn't work well. I have one here now and it has a head gasket leak.

For some reason the 85 200X kicker just feels ackward to begin with.

Run down to the Auto parts store and pick up a comp tester, they are great to have for any internal combustion engine. Just make certain it fits that small DR7 sparkplug.

also, remember that these bikes are sometimes hard as hell to start...
