What type chain are you guys running in the woods- O-ring or not? I want to save on weight but is a standard chain strong enough for a 310 woods bike?

I would buy the o-ring either way for any of my machines. I can't imagine you would notice any difference in weight and it will last longer if taken care of properly...

I would not worry about the weight...buy a good chain with a high tensil strength. You will get mud, water, sticks, rocks etc in your chain and will regret it the first time it breaks and smashes your case.

Spend the extra money and get a DID X-ring chain. I have one on my R and a RK O-ring on my 350x. The difference in friction between the two is pretty striking. There is a lot more resistance with the O-ring (resistance = loss of power). The X-ring moves damn near as freely as a non ringed chain.

I agree with Dammit! The x-rings are excellent and have low resistance. Plus you won't have to adjust it much.

I run a Renthal non-oring on the 500 so I doubt power is an issue with the non orings. I do have to adjust it kinda frequently but what I like about it the best is how loose and friction free it is.
