I understand the engine on a '84 200R and TRX are the same. I have tried Quad Central to get an answer, no luck. I have an electrical problem with the TRX and have a manual with wirirng diagram. I still can locate te neutral safety switch on this engine. I installed a hot battery, turned on switch, no lights. I do have voltage to the ignition switch. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi there, welcome to the board. I think you maybe confused.
There is not production trike that was considered a 200R, nor was there such a thing in 1984.
I think you maybe referring to the 85-86 Honda atc250r. The engines between the trikes and 86 - 89 trx250r quads are the same engine.
I'm also unaware for any neutral safety switch on the 250r quads.
Is your quad a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? I think the first thing you need to do it double check what quad your working on.

I may have misunderstood the 200'R' part, maybe it was 200X. Regardless, the 200 cc engine made by Honda in '84 was installed on 3 and 4 wheelers. I am working on a 200TRX and cannot locate the neutral switch. Can you tell me ?

200X's don't have neutral safety switches either. Only the electric start models like the 200m, 200E, 200ES had those from what I can recall/remember.

This is a 1984 Honda 200 TRX , 4 stroke, electric start. According to the wiring diagram (Clymers) it has a neutral and reverse indicator lights and switches in the circuit. I've been reading the forums on the subject and someone mentioned it being near the hi-lo gear shift. I haven't taken any covers off yet but, it's not visible on the top of the engine like it said in the post.

200 fortraxx...got ya .. the reverse switch comes out of the top of the left side case.it has a black rubber boot on it with wires comeing out.
the neutral is behind the sprocket cover and should look like a tiny spark plug when you pull the wire off. thats in the main left side case.. hope that helps.
it will go like this.. high/low gear case, then the left side case, then left main case..
P.S..........:TrikesOwn

Thanks, Bryan. I was beginning to wonder what else I'd have to say to get the message across. I'll check that out today and hope that's where my open circuit lies. This bike is not easy, for me, to get around.

Actually you probably wouldn't have confused anyone if you had posted it on Quad Central. When you post something on Trikesylvania the first thing that pops into our minds is Trikes. I'm glad someone was able to help though.

the neutral wire should be light green with a red stripe

If you had read the first post in this thread you would know why I'm asking here. I do appreciate all who have responded with help. I just finished rebuilding my '85 Big Red and this '84 200 TRX belongs to my 82 year old stepdad. It runs, I just need the electric start to work for him.
