lol dennis kirk..... yea OK.... there isnt anything in there except rebuild parts, you will have to keep asking here or look on ebay for any old rare performance parts, what you can do for performance is bigger carb, AM pipe, porting etc etc....

Well, not alot of upgrades anymore. You can always swap an yt175 front end on so you can have front suspension. Next, you would have to find a better exhaust and almost the only option for that is to find an old "pro tec" exhaust for the yt125. I hear you can swap the entire top end from a yt175 but I have never done that and for that you would need cylinder head, cylinder, piston and rings, carb and not sure about the exhaust either. If you had a better exhaust, you could run a better air filter and would need to rejet the carb. There also at 1 time were rear bolt-on suspension kits! Do a search on here using the websites' search engine and you will find pictures of a boardmembers yt175 with a pro tec suspension kit which are kind of cool. No holes to drill or anything, the whole kits just bolts on into pre-existing holes. Also a shop manual and an old owners manual would be highly recommended. I have both for my 1980 yt125, but they are where the yt125 is at and not here at the house right at this moment. You can find factory seat covers too. Some of the parts are still available at the dealers and some are available on ebay. I know ebay isn't very popular, but sometimes a necessary evil. My ebay shopping is way down from what it was and I wish there was a better alternative, but it still is a good source for these uncommon parts for the yts'. Just shop ebay very carefully.

That seat cover is funny, kinda looks like a garbage bag, and those bmx footpegs on the front forks are cool, never seen that before, not a bad idea though. Cool trike, I always wanted to ride/own one of them. It was one of the first trikes I ever saw in person, I was about 12 years old at a water park in NJ and the security guy was riding around on one. I'm hopin to come across a 175 one of these days. good luck with it.

^ I agree, performance parts are becoming very scarce for the 125 and 175's. I also agree with the performance exhaust, it makes a HUGE difference and almost makes it a whole different machine. The power delivery is much more crisp with a pipe, and helps a lot with the severe low end lack that the 125/175 have. I have tried a bassani pipe and a PK performance pipe on the 125/175, and I would highly recommend the bassani, but any pipe would be better than that strange stock degsign they had on the 125. Unfortuantly, I have sold the Bassani with the YT 175 I had, and the guy got a steal! I still have the PK pipe, but plan on using it on my near future YT 175 build I have in the works. Another thing you could do would be to have the head machined (shaved) making the combustion chamber smaller, raising compression and overall power. Looks like a great start to an awesome project, and keep us informed and updated along the way!

As far as performace upgrades go, I spied a rather neglected yamaha XJ in the background

Step1 remove baby motor
step2 Insert XJ motor
Step3 Smile nervously as you fire it up and hope you don't loop it.
Step4 let me know how step 3 went.
