Well this morning around 5am I took a trip to Little Rock to pick up an 87 250es big red for 400$. It runs fine, just needs a few bearings, brake cables, and battery. It came with the original sales receipt, paper work, title and 2 keys. It needs a few things but will be a nice rider.

Then after a couple hundred dollars (new rear finders) and around 4 hours I fixed her up just a tad. Still need to order a seat cover and a few other items but soon it will be nice.

Man what a great looking machine, i take it you ordered the parts as soon as you bought the machine? It doesn't even look like the same one. And to make it even better it was affordable and an 87, did it have any paperwork like a title? It seems a fair amount of the 86/7's have something which up in Pa and in Fl you need to ride public trails. Also is that foot guard a stock item or something aftermarket? I dont think i've ever seen on before, TC...

Yes it had the title, original sale paper work and documentation. I went to a local atv place and bought new brake cables, brakes, bearings, new rear fenders. I had an 87 tank that I used to replace the plastic tank ( I like metal better).
Now just need to order a new seat cover, more bearings and a few other minor things.

Scott,
If you want to rid yourself of the plastic tank, my father-in-law might be interested. He has a $200 Big Red I bought him for father's day a couple years ago I bought from R00sty. He uses it day and night to fetch the cows and the tank is all rusty and patched. Couple times a week he has to change the filter and such because of all the rust/crap in it.:wondering
Thanks man...

Great deal, the title is a huge plus in my mind. That will make a great toy to have around the house...

it still has the right side clutch adjustment rubber cap too :)
Well done Scott. john
Scott,
Nice find.
You wouldn't happen to have an extra one of those rubber caps laying around. John found me one and I need another one for my SX. I wish there would be some fines like that in my neck of the woods. NE MIchigan.

No I sure dont. I have 2 more SX's and one more big red that all dont have them either. The best bet on those suckers, is to get some clear silicone and seal the cap on there so it doesnt get lost. You can still remove it with some prying but it wont come off easy.

Nice find, I am trying to talk a guy down the road from my house out of an 86 BR that is just rotting in his yard but he won't budge.
