 I definitely need to make a trip up there sometime, looks awesome... Hey, it's a nice change of scenery from nothing but fields for me :) Maybe I need to get in on a trip with you guys sometime

Can you give us some of the rules or operating procedure for going there? I.E. what do we need to get in? When do we get in? Don't you need permits and how do you obtain them? Their webpage seemed a little vague to me but maybe I didn't look hard enough

its an awesome time and you wont be disappointed, basically you need a spark arrestor, and ORV sticker and flag available at any gas staion in the area, plus you will need a parking voucher or a dune ready voucher which are both available at the voucher center about 1/4 mile from the actual dune entrance.if possible i would suggest the dune ready voucher which means your vehicle is "dune ready" and you will drive right out on to the dunes then unload your atc's right on the sand.that way they dont check decible levels on your machines, plus the dune ready vouchers can be purchased for the whole weekend and bought at any time the day before, where as the parking lot vouchers can only be purchased for 1 day at a time and dont go on sale until 9pm the night before you plan to ride.

they werent checking decible levels the day we went but that may change for memorial day weekend:confused:

Its possible to go there in the morning and get a parking pass. I wouldn't chance it ! If your going to drive your truck into the dunes and they have not passed out all the daily passes the night before you might get lucky. I wouldn't chance it. I would say that is your best chance unless you show up the night before and get your passes. It all depends on how packed the place is. Its pretty packed on the weekend and I've seen people get turned away. Good luck!

I am a member over at silverlakeforum.com, check the place out - they are great people over there. The topics they have in bold will hopefully shed some light on some your questions. Like the others said, it is a busy place this time of season, so the best thing to do is get your passes the day/night before. Spark arrestors are needed, along with a flag and orv state permit. Its always cool to see more trikes out there:beer
