After going to Silver Lake over the weekend, i had a chance to see Danimals new Hand built Jemco for his 86 Tecate. I have to admit i'm a bit jealous. It is an amazing looking piece that is a work of art. So, i called Jemco today. When i asked about a pipe for a Tri-z, he said yep. 84-85 Tecate, no problem. Unbelievable...... I couldn't believe what i was hearing. He said he still has the jig and mount fixtures, and as long as he's still alive, he can build them. So i say why spend big money on a old beat up sectional when a brand new one can still be bought. He said they did a lot of research back then to make them perform at their best. And that the design of the exhaust is the exact same as when the bikes were new. So, they are truly old school. At $275 it may seem high, but...... consider a run of the mill D.G. will set you back close to $200, and a hand built sectional doesn't really seem to bad. I want one !!!!!!!!! :naughty:

So for $275 bucks you can get a pipe made for the Tri-Z? That will open a nice new market for the Z owners!!!

For sure. SX man, i'd be down for one if we can get a multi order discount. I'm in the process of building a nasty 86 Z. So it has me wondering if it may help. We need to follow up. If the tri-z pipe looks anything like the 86 Tecate pipe, prepare to be impressed. I just hope the performance is improved over the DG when comparing the two. This is great news for all our 2stroke trikes. BRAND NEW!!:w00t:

well if you need a number for a possible multi-order discount, put me down for one order. Either way, discount or not, I will probably get one anyways. Do you have any pics of other pipes done by him?

oh, you guys went to silver lake this weekend, didn't you? I was thinking about going but was way to busy to get away. Plus it's a pretty long drive (5 hours at least). How was it? Worth the trip? (sorry, got a little side tracked :) )

I just e-mailed them at info@jemcoexhaust.com. Asked them if they would do a pipe for the tri-z and if the pipe will work on the 310 big-bore when I upgrade later down the road. Told him I was interested in one and there are others that might be interested as well. So I will see what kind of response I get and let you guys know :beer

Also, anybody know if they are shipped bare or ceramic coated?

Oh yeah, thanks tecat-z!!!

Yes, please keep us posted!

They will be shipped bare, and they can most certainly do a tri-z pipe. That was my first question when i talked to them. If you want it coated, then it's your choice on what type you want after you receive your pipe.

Ok! Got a response from Jemco today:

Jesse,
I do still build the pipe for the Tri Z 250. Once the motor is changed in displacement, some modifications to the pipe would be necessary, by lengthening the head pipe and the stretcher. The pipe itself is $250.00 + $25.00 shipping. Let me know which way to build it - for the 250 or the 310. Call the shop at 713-461-3834. It takes 3 weeks after receipt of pre-payment by money order to ship the pipe. Thanks,
Jon Easton

I told him I will take one for the 310. But I have to call him later in the week to finalize everything. Thought I would pass this info along for anybody else that is interested :beer

Also, I wonder how much of a difference it will make on the 310 with a pipe tuned for a 310 versus using a pipe tuned for the 250?

Just got this:

Jesse,
The 250 pipe unmodified for a 310 will have a narrower power band. I'll be happy to hear from you later. Thanks,
Jon Easton

Might be some good info for anyone running a stock type or DG pipe on their 310. So I'm gonna call him in the next day or two and get one ordered up. Looks like I'm gonna be the Tri-Z guinea pig :beer and the 310 sectional pipe guinea pig at that :D I will let you know more as things progress...

250,vs 310, 310 needs alot more volume, Im having my own built right close, and it will run the dyno,,, ;)

Maybe somebody could dyno this pipe and say the DG as well with the 310 kit!? To see the difference.

Got payment in the mail today, he said it would be a couple weeks till he could start building it. We'll see what happens! Thank you again Tecat-Z for sharing this info with us, and to danimal95 for sharing the pics :beer Pretty soon I'll have a custom Tri-Z pipe built specifically for the 310 http://smilies.storagebin.us/smilies/picklewoot.gif

Well, if it hadn't been for Danimal95 actually purchasing one, and then having a chance to actually see it in person. I would have never known. I just can't wait to see your pics of it!! That's great you're stepping up picweasel, and please keep us informed. This is something iv'e wanted for some time, a real custom pipe. Now we all have more than one choice, and a hand built one at that.

Next time you are talking to him, mabey he would like to advertise on 3ww. Get him great business. His prices and a dg, Not that much, But quality,His owns hands down. Might even cut you a deal. I think we should have a TRIKE FRIENDLY BUSINESS sticky. To put people like him, sprock racing and dc plastic.

05-24-2008, 01:05 AM
Yeah, I would reccomend him for sure, seemed like a great guy on the phone. For being a hand built pipe, I think it's a damn good deal. And the fact that he's willing to mod it to work with the 310 is awesome. And it's not like there is alot of aftermarket support for the Tri-Z anymore. I figured I better jump on it while there's a chance to get one made. I'm sure he'll still be able to build them for years to come but this is a really good oppurtunity. I'd even buy one for the 250 that's in it now if I didn't already have a DG

Other than him and Sprock, there's not alot to choose from so I think it's great to get something new :)

And as far as advertising, how does that work? I mean who's in charge of it and what are the costs? I bet the pictures of his work are almost advertising enough... I bought one :beer

Well i'm next on the testing block. Just got off the phone with Jon, said he also has an order for a tri-z pipe, I'm guessing you pickleweasel?

Also he said he can make a silencer but you have to send one in so he can make a jigg for it.

I think I'm gonna go the wd-40 method with this pipe

he could probably make anything, but he said right now the waiting list is 3-4 weeks because they are so backed up. All he needs is a pipe to make a jigg from

I hope it's mine! I sent him a money order a couple weeks ago, just waiting on it to be made. Mine's the 310 version, should be the first one he's done for it. When I was talking to him, he said he'd use the same jig, and just modify the pipe in a couple places to make it work for the bigger bore. But that's cool wheeliepop, nice to see someone else giving it a shot :beer

jemco will be making my 86 t3 pipe as well. fell in love with enigma's when i saw it in the pic he posted. and more then likely i am gonna leave it bare metal finished to see the blueness from the heat, just think that look is cool.
