Anybody have a general idea of how hot it gets inside the combustion chamber of a liquid cooled 250R?
Please - no guesses here.

When using EGT's, the maximun before meltdown is about 1300 degrees. People usually like to lean out their jetting to that mark for the most power.

Aluminum melts at 1220 F - I am wondering normal operating temps. I saw online that a 2.2L 4 cylinder car motor operates at a temp inside the combution chamber of between 160 C and 258 C (258 C is roughly 500 F)
I can assume the 250R runs hotter than this - but surely not above 1000 degrees F.
3Razors - how did you obtain this info?

Hi Tim, you gotta love Capt. Lou right?! He was fun to watch..I was running an egt on a cr500 a few years ago and had an optak brand egt. Before I went crazy on the jetting I did some research on go-kart forums and such, from what I could gather on a 2-stroke 1300 degrees was the safe area. The probe placement in the pipe was critical in getting an accurate temp. reading.
Here is some reading info.
