best way to install tri-z waterpump seal ??

Hi,

What's the best way to install a new waterpump seal in a tri-z ?
I got the old one out and tried to install the new one, it was thight so I tapped it a little with a rubber hammer, on the first hit the rubber of the seal bursted :(

Can I heat the cover a little and freeze the seal, would that help ?

wow you must have really whacked that. I just did mine yesterday. Just greased it up a bit and installed it with a seal driver. Went together very smoothly.

no, actually I didn't knock very hard, a little tap.
I have installed lots of bearings and seals in my live, and never had this problem.

a seal driver is best but a socket will work just fine

Thanks, I've ordered a new set of seals, a complete set of alternative seals is cheaper than 1 OEM waterpump seal :s. I'll try again when I got it.

i dont like to greese them, but spit works nice and when it dries it makes a good seal
