Will the kicker form 83-85 work on th 86-87?
Is there a way to fix one when the retention spring is worn out and flopping around.

I know that a TRX300 kicker will fit on the 86-87's, as I have done it myself. Not sure about your question, but if you have a worn out 86-87 there's a LOT of TRX300's around. And they are a direct bolt-on.

The TRX300 kicker DOES NOT fit the 86 200X. It may fit the later model runs and does fit the 87 all of which have a larger shaft.
All 7 of the 86 motors that I have use the smaller shaft, about 15 to 16mm.
Only the 87 motor I got from RR_AK can use the TRX300 kicker.
Seabass already got screwed by buying a TRX kicker which didn't work for his 86.
EDIT - Also, both smaller and larger diameter kickers are available from Honda for about 87$. I have a few of each......

Luckily the TRX300 kicker was only 10 bucks but that is correct it didnt fit my 86.
The 86 kicker do come up on feeBay. Usually run 50 -70 bucks depending on demand. Or get a new one from Service Honda.

Hey SeaBass8 if you still have that kicker I'll buy it from you I have an 87 200x and needs a good kicker (that is if you want to sell it)

SCEADU - An 86 kicker just came up on feeBey... Someone reading this thread perhaps???
Itrike - I'll prolly just keep my TRX kicker in case I come across an 87 motor. But they are plentiful on feebay. So you shouldnt have to much trouble finding one. Im not even sure if the one I have fits the 87.
