Were getting ready to try and put a honda 250es back together. Needs electric work and some motor work. Question is can you start the trike with out the battery? Or is the battery just for the electric start feature and the light.
Thanks

I had a completely dead battery and mine started. I know its not the exact answer but hope it helps.

Well you dont have to have a battery as the stator will still run the lights but very very dim. Once you get it started all the electrics should work. YOu can either kick start it, or take some jumper cables on the battery leads, and hook to a good battery to jump it off.

Will running the engine without a battery fry the rectifier/controller box?
I first started mine without a battery and found when I fitted a battery It didn't charge. Rectifier and stator stuffed! But, it might have been that way before I got it, I don't know. If you've got a battery to hand it might be worth hooking it up just in case.

It will not hurt anything running it without the battery.
